Ok, the sound changed (and it sux).

But, has the firing mechanism changed as well?

It seems to have a faster charge up time but almost zero charge hold time?

I don't see this anywhere in the patch notes but it's unmistakable in game. What happened?

PS - the new mechanism completely sucks.

Ready to charge sound = easier to time shots for maximum DPS
Shorter charge time = better raw DPS, easier brawling
Shorter charge hold = more skill required

Two of those are clearly coming from player feedback. I guess you really can not make some people happy.

We Player wanted exactly the opposite

Shorter cooldown time after a shot
Shorter Charge time is nice but makes it harder again
shorter charge hold we wanted excatly the opposite

Except it's hard to actually hear clearly in the middle of numerous other sounds.

Which might have been nice but the Gauss is still not nearly as good a brawling weapons as.... well about anything else.

Which was the exact opposite of what everyone wanted. Now you still have to wait for the charge up, and you can no longer release selectively. It makes short range shooting particularly difficult because of how often people move out of your FOV.

The above two changes just makes it into a weapon with a very slow trigger time.

IMO this is not really skill, it's just another annoyance.
