No. First-access to new content is a very common practice in the free-to-play market, and even on console gaming. PGI is not the first to do this.

It is still pay-to-win.

Imagine having to wait 7 months to get a MadCat, while some people are using them that whole time.

That's ********.

The second the pack hits, the mechs should be buyable with c-bills as well... and MC. You won't get a MC discount buying them singular versus in the pack.

Making players wait half a year for a mech while others who blow money like water is bogus. Especially at these prices. 240 bucks? Seriously?

I bought Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries for 60 bucks and got TONS of mechs. And Single Player. And all the multiplayer I wanted.

I think the key here is that the Clan tech will be balanced so that it doesn't completely overpower IS tech (so PGI has said). As long as IS mechs are equivelent, I do not see this as any type of P2W scenario.

Now if Clan tech was as powerful as other BT games had it, then I could see an argument for P2W. Early access normally doesn't mean P2W, but if the early access mechs were 2x more dangerous and effective and the free versions didn't release for months, I think a P2W argument could be valid because they paid, and are now winning (at least for a couple of months). That would be bad business practices IMO.

As it stands though, I don't think a P2W argument is valid. I think things will be fine for those (like myself) who wait for the free (C-Bill) chassis to launch.

Hopefully they will release the Clan mechs faster than they have with IS mechs. Maybe one of each weight class all at once, then 2 a month after that.

Oh, i see now. Stupid huge 'microtransactions' in a fully priced console game is fine because its Sony. Which by the way, allow you to 'buy' power as cars are direct upgrades over previous cars. You wont see the very first car competing with a Lambo now would you.

The point is, why is it fine for Sony and Microsoft to do 'microtransactions' in fully priced games that have no other possible content outside of DLC that you can never get unless you spend real money, but not ok for PGI to offer early access to Clan 'Mechs for a bundle price in a F2P title, and then slowly release free versions of the same Mechs.

You can rage on as much as you like about how PGI missed this promise or that deadline. But in the end, you're still here. And so am i, because the core gameplay in MWO is quite fun. Future content such as CW is going to be just one more way for me to enjoy MWO. I don't even care when they do it, since i still enjoy my Conquest and Assault modes.

Well now .. Look at that. a whole bunch of stuff promised but delayed from your infallible Sony.

Haven't played GT6 but I've owned GT5 and all the previous iterations...for the most part (until recently), GT has always been a singleplayer type of game. I don't see what the issue is, considering racing online is just for fun. Maybe GT6 has some sort of competitive league thing built into the game...I don't know.

Someone wants to buy a car early...who cares? There's also the point that you can enter certain races based on horsepower restrictions, etc. Why would you be racing Lambos in your used Civic anyways? They're not even in the same class of cars and wouldn't be competing against each other.

Here in MWO, you'll be facing mechs that you may not be able to buy with C-bills and be in direct competition with them. That's the difference to me. Enter a match in your stock Trebuchet and let's see how you do against that fully kitted Ilya.

The only reason I'm here is because me and other Battletech fans are hostages to this company that owns the IP. You could make the same argument for GT/Sony, except there are other racing games on the market that are similar. I could race a Nissan in GT or in Forza.

Where else can I drive a Catapult?

Given that they released the first set of IS mechs in a four-pack (Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult, Atlas, the founder lance) I strongly suspect that they plan on doing something similar with the Clans, probably Uller, Blackhawk, Madcat, Daishi.
