Well they've credited player suggestion with a number of things they plan to add to UI2.0.
As for UI2.0 I have no idea if much of the numbers have changed, though it looks to me like some things have disappeared of that list since I last looked at it in 2013. But I'll credit that to as mentioned already to a failure to keep it up to date as they should.
PS. I don't think of it as a 'large' benefit of the doubt. PGI hasn't been perfect, and has screwed up along the way, but what do you expect from a small company that has never attempted a MMO, or F2P or anything really of this magnitude. The best thing they could probably do is get a communication strategist/specialist to coordinate what they want to get out, and what NEEDS to get out.
The VBlog is a set in the right direction, now that just need to get that out once a week, preferably featuring different departments/focuses, that way we don't just end up with the same programmer saying, 'well not much has changed in a week'.
A good sized benefit of the doubt. I want to support PGI, I want to believe, I just plopped down another 100$ to pick up mcs so that I can purchase the half priced victor (been waiting for that one) and while I do sympathize with being a small company I have grown pretty frustrated with the missteps... and not even the missteps... more the lack of communicating things.
I tend not to agree with the people that yell about what should be done or what PGI needs to do... I dislike the arbitrary calls for buffs to certain things and nukes (?) to other things. I really do think the game is in fairly decent shape though it gets rough.. and not letting us know where UI 2.0 and this road map is is frustrating.
I have to work to get my group battle ready for April in the hopes they'll hit their time line for lobbies and private play so I'm a little bit more than slightly invested in this game taking doing well. Oh well. I am very hopeful though if they had full steam on UI 2.0 and it's only partially done I'm wondering how they're going to manage their resources for the other content (thankfully DX11 is supposedly done and just waiting to ... I guess make it to release?)
I like your ideas about communication, and would agree ... communication may not solve problems but the more information we have the more I think we'll learn to appreciate and understand (especially if it comes before rather than after the fact).
