8 am ET (-5GMT) I logged in and there as a small patch. Is there a link somewhere that describes what that patch was? I guess it does not matter but I as curious.

It was a hot fix to fix a cry engine error.

Well, I believe it's Thursday and not Friday morning right now in eastern time. To answer your question, It's a hotfix for a bug the last patch added.

Major patches only happen on the 1st, 3rd, and occasionally 5th Tuesday of every month. On the other Tuesdays and Fridays, the servers reboot (for the sale injection), but there's no real patch.
Occasionally if there's a major issue they'll release a hot fix, like they did yesterday.
