How can I control which slot my lasers go into in my battlemaster?

I tried a few diff things but nothing seems to change it... for example I want my ER LL at the top, LPL in the insides and LL on the outsides

ERLL ERLL

LL LPL LPL LL

How do I get the mechlab to do this?

You can't. The same way, the mechlab decides for you to put a single srm6-launcher on the left arm of the Golden Boy in the underarm-slot, which makes them spread horizontically (to hit those mechs lying on the floor) instead of using the side-slot for a nice, vertical spread. Vertical, like mechs are built. :)

are you saying it's pre-assigned? if it's this it goes here, etc?

If that is the case they are pre-assigned in an intentionally f'd up way

The reality is that in the ATDs that PGI has refused (or at least not considered) giving finer control for players wanting which weapon slot they would like the weapon to appear in the mech, for the simple purpose of making the most out of a mech. You don't want an LRM10 going into an SRM6/SRM4/SRM2 tube for instance, for a mech that has multiple missile hardpoints in the same mech... but this is how it is.

It's easier just to stack the same weapon in the same torso section for now, to minimize the impact of this behavior.

Feel free to whine about it in the next AtD.

That is odd, and would annoy the heck out of me for BLR's. Not for game-play reasons but my OCD won't let me mount my lasers in such an odd pattern.

Yup, sucks.

You can put PPCs up high on the shoulders, but one you get in game, they are in the chest... Sad

The only solution is to fill all available torso hardpoints with PPCs.

There is a solution someone found. The key is to have no other weapons of the same type in your inventory when you save the mech.

1. Setup your mech so that the next weapon you mount is in the slot you want it. Save mech.
2. Get rid of all other copies of that weapon. Sell them, or stick them on other mechs. You should have exactly one on the list to the right.
3. Place Weapon, save mech.
4. Repeat if needed.

I think the trick to getting a weapon to stick to where you want it is to have the game buy the weapon when you mount it.

It does't work for me when I still have a single weapon in my back shop inventory, then try to save the design.

I have not tried it as I don't want to waste 400,000 c-bills to test this.

i actually had my ppc's on top , tried another loadout reverted and can only get on ppc up high. The ppc to be on top must be the last weapon saved so top to bottom(med, med, ppc).

bottom is top mounted weapon
middle is outer edge weapon
top is inner torso weapon

This "characteristic" of Battlemasters is annoying. I've only been able to get one PPC up high. The other is always lower in the chest, which not only looks stupid when you fire, but also causes the low PPC to hit the ridge.

I had this problem earlier with the BLR and couldn't solve it but just had this problem with the GRF missile hard points as well and fixed it by unmounting all of the weapons in the torso slot in question, selling all of those weapons so that I had none of them remaining in inventory, saving the mech, then remounting the weapons in the order that I want such that it has to buy new ones when I mount them. This method worked for the GRF. I will try with the BLR when I get home from work and report.
