You get it when you start the game for the first time. It lasts for 25 battles.

You will get 8~ million c-bills spread over your first 25 game, this is on top of your normal earnings.

You can increase your recruit bonus out to 13 million c-bills by redeeming your free day of premium for signing up and playing all 25 games while it is active.

Earning 4-5 extra c-bills over 25 matches isn't "wasting." You'll find c-bills far harder to come by than XP.

Or you could try having fun playing the game......

I mean seriously, sure it's more fun when you have the mech you want tricked out or can swap buildouts etc, but if you aren't having fun, what's the point?

As i said elsewhere, play the HGN, use the XP wisely, and as you get money upgrade it. Don't sell any weapons as you will likely need them for other mechs.

Also, assuming you haven't bought any MC, you could just start a new account.

Since you got 733C, you got a few options, to turn into a 'meta-mech' via dual ppcs or er ppcs and dual ac5s or ultra ac5s or single ac20, to turn into a miniature Atlas (easy after my following instructions to make it more compatible), or look on the forums/mechspecs (http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/) and use smurfy (http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab). Since you started stock, here's what I suggest, keep the engine, get rid of lrm20, and add srms. Move ammo to legs and head, and add heatsinks. That should be set for the time being.

Edit: The trials ain't bad and can still be helpful to grind your Highlander! You basically could actually run the trial Highlander until you get enough cash to run your own built Highlander! Also, you will need to get 2 more Highlanders, depending on what you want. I suggest Heavy Metal (grinding is easier), 732 (sniper, still good), though 733 (missile boat), and 733P (energy boat) are still very viable.

Indeed. Also a few hours before you did your first post here, I'll be on tonight. I'm usually happy to escort new players now and then especially when I'm using new mechs and trying to build them up.

Last night I had a decent game with 3 kills and something between 250 and 300 damage with a standard heatsink ER PPC + small lasers + 1 streak Wolverine where I was running around taking leaping pot shots and sprinting at enemy mechs to leap over them and plop shots onto their topsides. Ask "Dont LRM Me Please" since he was on the other team. Sadly I didn't see get to see him alive, but yeah he got to see what I was doing to them.

The cadet bonus is paid out during your first 25 matches, with small payment for EACH match. It is not a lump-sum. The end total is almost 8 million, plus your actual earnings for those matches, plus premium time if used.

You can still collect a free WEEK of premium time by visiting the redeem page and entering code HAPPYHOLIDAYS. This will help you earn extra C-bills needed to customize your Highlander! Using Premium time to multiplyyour cadet bonus is not a 'waste' though, simply because the large C-bill bonus gets multiplied. The XP is kinda wasted but the C-bills are worth it.
