(Title should have read "without the Nerf" not "with")

Let Clanners have their tiny uber weapons, fast 'mechs, and amazing technology.

BUT

Force them to operate as if they were under enemy ECM at all times (with the exception of missile locks). Clanners should not:
- share targets (indirect fire)
- share enemy position (mini-map data, indirect targeting, etc)

This simple reduction in ability should give IS teams a strong enough edge when working together that it balances out the clan weapon superiority.

Think about it, LRM become most useless, it harder to gang-**** a target because you all have to find your target individually, BUT your enemy can shoot you from behind that hill and they keep engaging 5:1 because they share information.

This would mean not allowing Clan tech on IS 'mechs and visa-versa.

Lastly, Clanners should never drop with IS pilots on the same team and it should be 12 IS vs 10 Clan.

My main concern would be with the Ultra series ACs, everything else shouldn't be hard to balance in relation to IS Tech.

With Clan LRM, I'd rather explore having them direct fire only. Speed them up to about 700 m/s or so and then have them be dumb-fire.

The idea of not sharing info is interesting, but it could instead be not sharing target info only, they would need Line of Sight on Target to get that.

But they should keep sharing radar updates as to where enemies are at least.

This might help balance it out in PUGs, but as soon as the Clans have ability to communicate effectively (hello TeamSpeak / Mumble) the suggested changes are really just an inconvenience.

In skirmish and assault the clan mechs can just stick together or only break up into 2 groups. Add to that voice coms over TS or fast typing and that wouldn't be much of problem for the clan mechs. It would a bit but not enough to over come the weapon power difference.
