Mechwarrior Online is the only game that causes this problem
Typically once during a MWO play session I will encounter a problem where my computer locks up, my screen freezes and the graphics on my monitor become slightly pixelated with a bit of a color ship.
What am I running into here? A memory leak is my first guess.

Did you check if your PC is overheating?

Computer stats please? Particularly RAM amount and graphics card (or integrated) please.

Have you
(1) Run the repair tool after the last patch?

It is generally a good idea to run that after each patch.
(2) Submitted s support ticket with a description and a DXDiag and Omicron log attached?
