Keep the Mechwarrior name off of Turn Based games. Keep that realm under the name of Battletech.

One of the things I keep wishing I could buy would be a very well made 3D version of the hexmap game. No changes to the rules at all, just a PC version of the table top.
I would absolutely pay for that. Would you?
No, I wouldn't. I have zero interest in playing a turn based Battletech game on PC, at all.
What I expect and want to play is a MechWarrior Combat/Action Simulator. Two horses of a different color. (and might as well slip this in since we're on a discussion about alternate Battletech iteration games, Mech[In]sault s*cks a**. Game should never have been even called "Mech"; its too misleading. MechCommander was good though.)

I wouldn't be interested in a turn-based strategy MMO though.
And I'm perfectly happy with a Mechwarrior game too, of course

Total War:Succession wars. I'd probably die.
i'm guessing by not leaving the keyboard for 2 weeks straight?
thats roughly how long it takes me to get the first "rush" of a new TW game out of my system

Haha yeah exactly, playing at successor state level would be beyond cool, anyone who says thy don't want too see that obvioulsy doesn't have the skill or strategic acumen to play that kind of game...
Mega Mek is ok...for like 20 mins... Come on guys, really? You're telling me if they spruced up the graphics made it full 3d using an approximation of say the mechcommander engine, but still faithful to the tt rules you would still play mega Mek? No way in hell.
Sign me up for anything strategic, in the meantime ill hope MWO invigorates the fanbase to expand into more new games. With single player. And regiments. Lots of regiments.

Mechwarrior is all about being the guy/gal in the hot seat, piloting the machine and winning the fight on the ground. That is Mechwarrior.
Strategy is Battletech. WHich release if you will and people will play it but it should not be a MECHWARRIOR title.
(And yes, girls do play mechwarrior. I got lucky and married one. My wife just beat the Hell out of stage four Breast cancer. Wait 'til you see what she can do in a Hunchback 8).

...But at the same time, I'm iffy on the subject of Megamek in the first place. It's great for those guys who have nobody in their towns to play against, but it also makes us lazy; we're so unlikely to get out there and try to find local players, or try to make new players or new gaming groups. Instead, we're all the more likely to just sit at home and play megamek.
What that means is out at the tabletop store, even if the product is selling, nobody ever sees anyone using the tables for Battletech, and people who don't play assume it's a "Dead game", spreading that thought to people who might be interested but can't find local players.
Again, the cycle continues, and more and more of the tabletoppers end up using the internet to play, so more and more people assume the game is dead.
Likewise, many of these people who tend to play Megamek at home also prefer to buy their core books from online retailers so that they can save the 10-or-20% off the cover price (Which goes right back into the shipping costs, am I right?). This means lost sales for whatever LGS might be in the area, giving them reason to diminish their stock or abandon supporting Battletech altogether, hurting the popularity of the game all the more. Even if no nearby stores stock it, players should push them to buy it, and at least special order their products in from said LGS. If people are buying and playing in their store, then they would be fools not to keep some on the shelves.
That, in part, is why whenever I try to get a game going, I always ask to play it at my local game store (HELL YEAH FANDOM II), Rather than, say at someone's house. If we're seen, then we're recognized. I love getting people interested and asking questions, offering to teach them how to play using the intro-box miniatures I bring to every game, no matter what else I brought.
...but that said, I would be surprised if we ever found a 3D modelling team that could keep up with the rate that Catalyst releases new designs, on top of filling out the back-log of existing designs.

And you need another player, and record sheets, an space, and 4+ hours.
Don't get me wrong I love the game, but it's a
Massive hassle to get one happening.
It would be great to be able to fire up a game(that actually looke good) and play against the engine.
I dont understand all the haters, no it wouldn't be a mechwarrior game, that much is obvious, that's the sim side.
There is, I believe, a market for the strategy side also.
