Keep in mind, the OP is NOT building a general gaming machine; he's building an MWO machine.
He's specifically tailoring this for a specific title, one that does not take to hyperthreading. For his needs, Barbaric's build is perfect.

Also, don't forget to save $100ish for a copy of Windows [unless you have/can transfer your copy or can get one cheap through work/sale/friend/ etc]

I dropped the extra fans and the aftermarket CPU cooler (I will upgrade for OC later) in order to get a quiet case for the wife. When I do OC I'm not going to push it to the max so hopefully the case will be cool enough. I'll probably look at combo liquid cooling for the GPU and CPU. I also splurged on the GTX 760 (future proofing, I realize it won't do anything for MWO) in addition to the more expensive case. I also made some on the spot substitutions at microcenter since they were non critical components and they had some specials no to far off of the online prices.
Please realize my final picks can't satisfy everyone, I don't want to start a flame war. The three sources I ended up going with were these.
http://gamegpu.ru/mm...e-test-gpu.html -- i5 is very similar to i7, and 2nd gen is better than new
http://cpuboss.com/c...l-Core-i5-3570K -- 3rd gen and 4th gen are very similar, 3rd gen is better OC
http://www.ocaholic....id=1087&page=14 -- 3rd gen is better
Plus i5 price is $100 less than i7, and 3rd gen is another $30 or $40 cheaper than 4th gen. I don't need the extra mobo features either (I hope, to late now).
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2opRT
I5 3570K 3.4 GHz -- $180 at microcenter
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 -- $100 at microcenter
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4) -- $63 combo with something at microcenter
Western Digital Blue 1TB 7200RPM -- $64 price match at microcenter
Asus GTX 760 2GB -- $260 at microcenter
Corsair 550D ATX Mid Case -- $125
Corsair CX600M 600W 80+ Bronze ATX -- $65 at microcenter
Rosewill N600PCE dual band a/b/g/n -- $25
Windows through work -- cheap
Actual prices (not pcpricepicker options)
Subtotal $733.94 + $125 + $25
Tax on microcenter purchases = $44.04
Rebates = -$10 -$10 -$20
Total = $883
I suck at sticking to a budget (my original hope was to keep it under $600)... wonder what's going to happen when I start house shopping in the spring.
Thanks again everyone. Total time from start to finish was about 16 hours of reading and hunting. Not to bad I think, and I have you guys to thank for it.

It is a better OCer than Haswell, it's true, although who can say whether you'll take advantage of that or not. The differences are small either way, however, so the biggest thing you gain from going Ivy is pocketing a few bucks, and of course, Ivy runs a little cooler
