My SO is a community manager for an online shooter that's mostly popular in Russia. Her professional opinion of community interaction is thus:
"It doesn't matter how great you are at interacting with the community if the engineers can't deliver and the gameplay is lacking. Players will stop playing the game."
Her words seem pretty true to me, and they describe MWO pretty well. I think it's a very positive sign that the devs have been making a big push to interact more with the community and push out more information about what's going on behind the scenes.
Having said that, will developer interaction keep you playing the game, or at least bring you back to the game if you've decided to take a break while awaiting new features?

Developer interaction doesn't factor into the decision on whether I play a game. Gameplay does, which is why I'm here today. MWO gameplay is fantastic.
I don't play a horrible game just because I'm crushing on a community manager.

I don't play the game she manages....
I played MWO from October 31, 2012 till early December, 2013. The gameplay seemed great in the beginning, but it turned terrible over time. I don't know where it is today, because I haven't played in six weeks.
What gameplay is fantastic exactly? Been using SRMs much?

Also, it's funny that a discussion about whether or not developer interaction with the community can make up for gameplay is thrown into the offtopic section after it was originally posted in the Gameplay forum.
You mods should go waste your time deleting half the threads in the gameplay forum, or consolidate the tons of threads about how gameplay is terrible.
Instead, you move this post. Good job. My girlfriend the community manager has told me all about how volunteer mods are paid with in-game currency that costs the parent company absolutely nothing. You're like free to play players, with a second job that earns you far less per hour than minimum wage, when compared to the pricing of the MC they pay you with.
Enjoy banning me. You already banned the forum posting ability of the MWO account I spent over $250 on your game with, but you didn't ban the account as long as it was coughing up money. Or just quit your mod job and get a real one that doesn't afford you the time to cleanse the forum.

This just in... tinfoil is now considered a hot commodity and will be rationed due to the recent uptick in demand.
Stock in aluminum foil manufacturers are skyrocketing and aluminum cans are paying upwards of .50 cents pound...
