First of all, everything implimented in game so far is excellent. I am very satisfied and have already put money into it because it is actually the best MW game to date that I've played.
But from the little I've been following on the attempts to keep gameplay balance, I must ask something: Why are we going to get team tonnage limits imposed if Assault mechs are limited to only be as good as light mechs anyway?

Light mechs are being pushed to have enough speed to be as useful as an assault mech. Also assault mechs are having their power so limited that they cannot be more useful than a light mech. Yes, one will get more damage, but they'll both get the same cbills and XP for spotting assists, base caps, etc.

I don't mind tonnage limits per match at all - in fact I think it's a great idea. But if we're going to do that, why not just let the assault mechs be better than the light mechs? You do pay more for them, after all. Nobody governs the car maker industries to ensure my buddy's Chevy Camero is balanced against my Toyota Corolla to make driving fair for everybody. If you pay more for a car, you get a better car.

Finally, a note on limited assault mechs: I will formally complain about them until the game gets what the game deserves: one - JUST ONE - ballistic assault mech variant.
No assault mech can mount more than 1 AC 10, AC20, Gauss, etc. Variants that SHOULD have been able to have been deliberately withheld. As far as I have been told, it is only because of "unfairness." But really, what is so hard about giving us one assault mech with two usable ballistics hardpoints (not in the same torso/arm)? Because somebody will put two gauss rifles on and dominate the battlefield? Then why were we given a dual-gauss Jager? You see where my frustration is.

Anyway, ballistic assault aside, the game is still awesome and the new mech and map rock. What are your thoughts on balancing lights and assaults in the future?

Assault mechs already ARE better than light mechs, excluding the Awesome for obvious reasons. The only things not better than lights are most mediums (the Phoenix Project mediums are fairly good contenders with their amazing hitboxes and good enough hardpoints).

Assaults simply are better than lights. They can kill others faster and stuff. That being said, many assaults so fear my ravens... and for a good reason.

Tonnage limits are the best that can be implemented because it is simple, transparent and doesn't need much additional explanation.

Anyway, great to see someone with rather healthy (and polite) attitde to the game :-) merry christmas
