  • I run with free arms and try to group arm torso weapons separately to make point defence
  • Not very good at managing heat, as I'm in the middle of a dogfight I simply don't hear and don't see the heat warning. But sometimes I'm cool enough to slow my rate of fire or switch to "backspace". I usually make also a group Alpha with backspace turned on.
  • I usually use JJ to jump over obstacles and have a stright path, instead of turning around mountains. And then fall back the repair if the jump reveals too much enemies.
  • I don't really care for speed, although I find it usefull. I seek better engines for their better cooling efficiency/inbuilt HSs
  • I don't find PPCs funny, but I like them in torso to protect them as an expensive weapon, but the arm let me fire from half cover play style. I don't usually snipe, I more a flanker, hit and run and assaulter. For Cata I seek a flanker/assaulter playstyle
  • AMS and BAP are a nice and usefull addition if there's room. Not essential.
  • I almost hate XL engines, because I'm almost a kamikaze. But i know they are useful for designing good FP Mechs.
In the meanwhile I managed to build this... it's not bad... after all... but... miss something...

Thanks for your help!

Try this tweak of yours: More armor, ammo (you'll need it), AMS & only like 1-2kph slower.

Thanks for your help!

Ok here are two designs that I came up with while trying to get you a higher alpha and less DPS so that you will not be exposing yourself a lot. With having arm lock off and two AC5s in the ST and arm makes aiming slower and harder. Another downside to twin AC5s is they require you to stay facing the enemy to keep the DPS up; This is something that I try to avoid with hit and run mechs. Better to come up behind someone, unload everything into their back, and then when they turn around you are gone while you are cooling off and maneuvering to a better position. Another thing that I do is try to keep my ammo towards my core and head. Once armor is gone in these sections, you are already ****** so the risk of an ammo explosion will not matter much. On top of that by that time you already burned through most of your ammo so even less risk. Basically ammo is used this order: Head > CT > R-ST > L-ST > R-Arm > L-Arm > R-Leg > L-Leg

I wanted to give you some options so I wanted to keep the STD engine in one design just incase that you like it more or wanted something cheap. This unfortunately does not leave much room for even 2 large lasers so range is limited (270 is your optimal) which will hurt on open maps but you will not burst into flames either when you play on Terra Therma. You will want to put the MLs into 2 separate groups to keep you from firing the torso when only the arm ones will hit. Possibly set one fire group to alpha fire everything that you have so when you sneak up on someone you can unload into their back. Which adds another bonus that the AC20 and ML have the same recycle time meaning that in 5 seconds worth of time you can put 80 damage into someone which will kill most and cripple anyone else if they do not notice you.

This is closer to my 3D, it has better range and PPCs are really nice for dumping all the damage into one section but they are less forgiving if you miss. The other downside will be heat so it is best to chain fire the PPCs, oh and the 90 meter 0 damage too. If you find PPCs to be too hot, large pulse lasers work too with 10.6 damage and the highest DPS for energy weapons. For hit and run you will want to follow the same principle as the other version but make sure that you are more than 90 meters away.

I hope that one of these gives you that something that you were looking for. Good luck and good hunting.
