Yup been away for awhile although i have kept in touch and patched sparingly... patching now as a matter of fact ..and reading some of the forums propanganda and adverts.
Never did use the mc and premium time...was waiting for all the extra content. well that came but apparently will cost me more
i did have high hopes for this and supported this project early, but now it seems that it was my personal pipe dream, and this project is going entirely in a different direction than which i am comfortable
it does seem, imho, to be a money pit
$500..heh heh
guess i'll just waste the premium time and cbills and go silently into the night

oh and before you can say it...good riddance to me
lol

A lot of us feel similarly to you, i'm personally going to stick with MWO until March / April and see if they deliver on their latest round of "promises" - If they do i'll probably sign up for a clan pack, If they don't then i'll probably move on too.

Me too.

Just came back today after signing up to Beta test the game way back when...only to find it wouldn't run properly on my machine and that even if it did, I couldn't use my joystick. Must've been a year or more.

Anyway, got me a new graphics card and decided out of curiosity to fire the game up again. After spending 4 hours or so waiting for the 45 patches to complete, I finally found a game that resembled the amazing screenshots and artwork we'd been shown. And joy of joys, the control interface has been updated, so I can configure my joystick to how I used to play MW4 (more or less).

Spent a while running round the training grounds before deciding to jump into a skirmish. Took a wrong turn and got separated from my lance but when I found 'em again I died in about 10 seconds flat, doing a minimal amount of damage in the process. Bloody brutal this online gaming lark! Still, after that the only way is up I guess.

Disappointed to see how expensive some of the nicer "toys" and extras are. I mean seriously...$500 for 1 mech? I will definitely be keeping it FTP and just do the best I can. Will probably be a semi-regular player for nostalgia's sake, rather than a devotee (World of Tanks has currently got that spot in my heart right now)...

If you buy all the Gold mechs, they'll be able to hire another programmer though.

A while ago the usual response would be 'can I have your stuff' and 'don't let the door hit you on the way out'.

Now you're more likely to hear 'leave your stuff with Heffay and hold the door for me please'.

You guys do know you dont have to buy anything to get the mechs right? ----- Just start playing and have fun. The game is well fun. By far the worst part of the game is the forums.

Nope. The worst part of the game is promises. ;)

No. The worst part of the game is the fact that it could have been a fully featured PC game and instead turned into an unfinished repetitive console game.

This is what happens when publishers have control- the minimum possible that you can make money from.

Basically this ^^^. The last patch left me feeling good, even if it is fleeting. It gave me a spark of hope. If PGI can develop that spark into a flame again, so much the better. And they might even get some clan pre-purchase out of me.

But, that's the beauty of patience. I can wait and see if it's worth it.

Unfortunately this programmer will go to work on PGI's next cash grab deal. Maybe if you buy 2 of each they can get one to work on the non cash grabbing stuff. ;)

The last patch has shown me that PGI has no love for the BT universe, but it is only a purchased license.
A Game Mode, which would have to be there at the beginning, and an unloving hingepfuschte Arenamap, the optically not even able to compete in 2004 with the base maps from UT 2004... and one of the worst beginners design fault has, one can make a map designers use a texture set ... never! too often, or even together for walls, floors and ceiling ... MWO will evolve just like MW tactics

Welcome back!

Lemme go over some things you may have missed:
Lurmpocolypse came and went... THEN CAME BACK! Then went. It was a tumultuous time, really. The good news is, at the moment at least, we can see the sky when we look up again.

PPCGEDDON happened and the dinosaurs kinda took one for the team... but now PPCs are back to the starting values back when Beta first started - except they no longer do any damage sub 90m.

As fallout from the impact the PPCs had on the dinosaurs there's a "ghost heat system" that prevents any more asteroids from wiping out our precious dodo birds. Might want to look into that before making a carrier pigeon based mech...

SRMs finally left their prototype phase and were deemed a safety hazard to anyone in front of them, and thus were outfitted with rubber tips, then the rubber tips were considered too bouncy and ineffective, so they wanted to go back to warheads, but thanks to an error in the shipping department a random number of rubber tipped SRMs keep getting mixed in with our real warheads... They're still working on this one.

In the attempts to go back in time to save the dinosaurs, there was unfortunately a terrible accident in the temporal research facility... though thankfully the only casualty we took in the resulting time-dilation (what can only be described as) "wave" was the Gauss rifle. For some reason it takes a while to fire, but now when the shots come out they're much faster!

Unfortunately someone decided to leave the front door unlocked and someone slipped in and stole all of our base capture points from the maps and (for some reason) half of the textures on frozen city...

Oh, and finally in unrelated news, Mechs are being theorized to have souls! There are multiple accounts of mechs having an out-of-body experience in the middle of combat - it sounds so surreal!

But yeah, welcome back man! You're in for one hell of a ride!
