Personally, i think the damage calculations about some weapons need heavy modifications.
It's not possible to have the back of an Atlas and place about 10 ER PPC direct hits, coring him but not getting him down.
Then when he finally turns to you, his AC puts you to sleep with a single shot.
And much more examples can be called in.
Sometime one single scratch shot of pulse laser melts down a light mech's legs, while an heavy AC/10 shot just scratches out the painting...
A huge load of LRMs can't take out an assault mech, while a single streak shot gets down 10% of everyone's armor...

LRMs are probably best at causing huge damage at slow and big assaults.
Your single streak causing 10% damage, 'everyone' ? LOL.. BS.. Video plz..
