I've been using dual UAC/5's on my mechs for a long time, from before then went through all of their changes. I use them on my Jagers(triple sometimes), Highlanders, and my shiny new Phract 3D. What I have found is that even though firing them together outputs more damage, Chain firing is so much more dependable. It puts out a steady stream of lead in perfect time and jams less often than when firing them together. Facing a steady stream of dakka "thak thak thak thak"is more frightful than a disconnected "thak thak......thak thak....." Who knows maybe its just because im a musician, but I really love chain firing my UAC/5's whereas everyone else tells me not to. Thoughts?

I do well while using my triples without chain. I don't like chain firing them, might as well just take regular ac5s. Yeah my guns jam, but it rarely makes a difference, here's a game I just got out of.

I pilot a 3 UAC/5 Ilya a lot, and I've found that when I rely on chainfire more in a match, I tend to do more total damage and get more kills than when I'm using burst fire. I'm also more likely to live until the end of the battle.
My theory is that people are so distracted by the constant *BANG**BANG**BANG* on their armor that they forget to do useful things like evade or shoot back.

At the same time, remember that you do have some more power when you need it, and USE IT. It's great to be able to rapidly finish off a badly damaged mech, or punch a hole in an already weak spot. If you're not using the burst fire at all, try switching down to AC5s and see if that still suits your needs.

Chainfiring is generally a mistake... the knock from weapons isn't enough to juggle your opponent, so hitting them multiple times has no benefit.

You want to do your damage in the largest, fewest shots possible. This is the single guiding principle that governs all mech design in MWO. Point damage, precisely located, is how you kill mechs.

If you have two UAC5's, it's better to fire them together, because each shot will land 10 damage on a single location. When you fire them in sequence, then there is a chance that it'll do 5 damage to two separate locations, which is less desirable.
