They took away my 5 AC2 jager suppression mech, so what did I do with that chassis? I stuck 2 AC20's on it. I've been playing it since the heat penalty for AC2s and the 2 AC20's rock. When I want to have fun I run it, so I can blast things to pieces. Some matches I get nuked, but then some matches I come out with 5+ kills and 35% or less remaining of my mech. I laugh at Atlas' and those PPC builds because I never run with the barn side facing you and I hardly ever engage an enemy that has seen me. I'll walk my butt halfway around the map once I've been discovered. Anyways this mech is great, so is the 4 UAC5 jager...... if they would only boost the ammo per ton, that would be the best mech in the game.

They already did boost the ammo, from 25 to 30.

PGI should tweak their hardpoint system.
Add small, medium and heavy weapons mounts and allow only several selected Mechs to carry heavy ballistics.
Examples would be Atlas, Highlander and Hunchback, but never the Jaegermech.

This across the board should be the way to go. Mechs should have specific slots for certain weapon sizes, then you might actually get some variation, instead of everyone using similar builds across all mechs.

PGI said they will be implementing the ability to customize your Mech's look. Perhaps they could package different hardpoint sizes with the different looks (in this manner good old fashioned builds will be around still, but hey'll cost more).

I really don't get the problem with AC/40 Jagers. I just don't.

As has been pointed out here before, AC40 Jagers are a double edged sword. On the one hand they are insanely good upclose and in ambushes. On the other they are under armoured, under powered and tend to lack back up weapons.
I have only once been killed by one, when i was ambushed at the cave on forest colony, and he managed to get 2 volleys off. And even then i hit him good.
I have, however killed many. But i have killed many. At long range and without support they die very quickly. Even up close my K2 can deal with them.
From your comments i would say that you have yet to encounter any opponents other than noobs.

What do people mean by a "meta" highlander? And what is Elo when talking about other players?

Been away for 6 months. Enlighten me.

Actually the whole usage of the word "meta" confuses me.

AC40 is the poor man's Splat Cat - Back when SRMs were strong those things were absolutely vicious and far better protected than the Jager is. Your average AC40 Jager overheats after a couple of alphas and against good players (even good PUGs) you will at best break even by killing one unsuspecting player before he or someone else calls out your designation, build and grid number. At this point no amount of XL 300 speed or 40 point alpha is going to save you, especially since they're regarded as no skill cheese builds and are perfectly valid focus fire targets unlike Spider 5Ks and their ilk that should just be ignored.

I call priority target on ANYTHING dual AC20/Gauss.

It's natural to reduce the time-to-kill for any enemy unit. With the doubling of armor waaaaay back in CB, these high alpha builds are going to be more popular. Truth be told, even without the double armor, people will use high alpha builds to reduce ttk as much as possible. It's a fact of life in the game. Personally I hate them. I see them and I think n00b.... But there are skilled players out there who play them so it's just a personal opinion.

I would support a 100% stock game mode and hope that PGI takes it seriously and includes the playstyle in CW and other aspects of the game. That'll be the only way to avoid these builds. Otherwise you are infringing on other people's preferred playstyle, no matter how cheap it may seem.

Last night I killed two in a row using a Victor with 3 AC2s from >500m. They were helpless as I blew out their shoulders in about 4 seconds apiece. The AC40 Jäger is fun, but it's a super map-dependent build IMO. If you're caught out in an open map, you're just dead meat. I must be rising in ELO, because in every game now everyone immediately focus fires on Jagers and Phracts. I hardly ever run those chassis anymore because it seems like they're always the priority targets.
