So i'm sitting here bored, trying to avoid doing something productive, and get to pondering exactly how much ammo I've wasted used in game so far... Five minutes on the stats page with a calculator (Total shots fired divided by shots per ton, rounded up) and here are my results:

AC/2=453 Tons
AC/5=1136 Tons
UAC/5=203 Tons
AC/10=203 Tons
LB-10X=150 Tons
AC/20=49 Tons
Gauss=640 Tons
LRMs=806 Tons
SRMs=272 Tons
SSRMs=79 Tons

For a grand total of 4029 tons. Thats heavier than all the mechs in my stable.

Like i said, i'm bored ^_^

But... PPC's don't have ammo?

AC5 - 203 tons
UAC5 - 1,831 tons
AC10 -1,407 tons
AC20 - 1,243 tons
Gauss - 1,981 tons
LBX10 - 206 tons

Wow.. that's alot of ammo...

Lets do a what if, lets say PPC's have 15 @/t similar to AC10's...

PPC - 6,216 "tons"
ERPPC - 1,470 "tons"

Well, hot damn (literally)!

These numbers are rounded to the nearest whole number.
AC/20- 457t
LRM 20- 6,280 shots fired, multiply by 20 and you get 125,600 LRMs. Divide by 180 ammo per ton and you get 698t
SRM 4- 90t
AC/2- 428t
AC/5- 53t
AC/10- 10t
Gauss- 210t
LB10-X- 3t
Machine Gun- 160t
Ultra AC/5- 95t
LRM 5- 240t
LRM 10- 589t
LRM 15- 1113t (multiply shots fired by 15, divide by 180 right?)
NARC- 1t
SRM 2- 6t
SRM 6- 393t
SSRM 2- 116

Hope I got the missiles right. Grand total (just a bit under from rounding):

4572 tons of ammunition fired.

Thankfully we don't have supply lines in game!

David I think LRM total shots fired is the individual missiles launched, not total salvos. If you look at your total shots fired, it seems to always be in increments matching the launcher size, or at least in increments of 5 and 10. I only have 11 matches with an LRM20 but it's still launched 4180 shots. If that were 4180 salvos then that would be on average 380 salvos fired and 42.2 tons of spent ammo per match.

ac/20 141 tons
uac/5 3908 tons i like my ilya...
ac/5 297 tons
lrm 1125 tons stalker that is all (plus i added my lrms together)
ac/2 7 tons
srm 847 tons did same thing with srms
gauss 501 tons
lbx/10 115 tons
mg 19 tons

total tonnage - 6605 tonnes of ammunition.

considering i am sitting at about 2k matches, that translates to an average of 3.3 tons of ammo per match.

which considering that i regularly go through all 11 tons of uac/5 ammo in my ilya in the course of a match, makes sense.

Great idea Smittiferous! My buddies and I are always joking about the sheer number of slugs and missiles we send down range during the course of a match (a few of which hit their intended target on occasion), but I'd never thought about quantifying it.

Here's how I stack up:

MG 30
AC2 47
AC5 199
UAC5 81
AC10 19
LB10X 422
AC20 298
Gauss 79
LRM5 2
LRM10 6
LRM15 20
LRM20 45
SSRM2 7
SRM2 1
SRM4 71
SRM6 802

TOTAL 2130

I'm just over 2100 tons of ammo used, which is a few assaults more than the tonnage of mechs in my stable. Mostly SRMs and ACs as I don't often run LRMs.

The timing of this is appropriate as the New Year's Eve revelers are expending massive quantities of fireworks as I type!

Happy New Year!

That's part of the perceived ballistics imbalance...

Ammo depletion, distance from the front lines and supply line interruption all have a direct bearing upon a ballistic weapons value.
