Just got out of a match with 10 trial mechs, which shows you that all the new players are finally getting pooled together. The system works.

In other news, I'm also glad that we don't have a stock mech mode, because you'd see matches where 8 people had the exact same mech with the exact same build, which would be boring.

One thing though The Blackjack is a (C) so some of those could be owned.

Yeah, the stock mechs are hardly created equal. I think most people would prefer a 3025 mode without the losttech.

I don't think most would prefer it, but I know there is interest for it. But even without Lostech, the entire game is not designed for table top builds. Not even customized ones, simply because heat dissipation is too low for the heat generation mechs can achieve. Every 3025 stock mech and any custom 3025 tech mech would be better off replacing some weapons with heat sinks.

There's nothing wrong with the Trial/Champion mechs... only the beginner pilots utilizing them. 1000 damage with the Trial Spider and Machine Gun's. Stop complaining and learn to play.

For a moment there, I was afraid no one would intentionally miss the entire point of the thread and use it as yet another excuse to wave their e-peen around.

You start by assuming that I'm sarcastic, then reply to my arguments sincerely, which is weird.

Well, the enemy team did 2628 dmg in total, whereas my team did 703 dmg without me. So I guess the matchmaker was depending on me to do 1925 dmg, being a seasoned veteran. Ultimately, I failed, costing my team their victory. I let everyone down. I just needed 8 more kills... damn it all to hell.

I am disappoint, Deathlike.

This was funny.... It was meant to show one thing but the obvious was the fact that the MM system failed horridly. (And I really doubt) that the MM system expected you to do 1900 damage LOL... but yeah this was a good laugh at the failed system.

**Now for the record, I love that BJ... I have used it and are sooo close to buying it. I have done some serious damage in drops with it. I love the thing and think it is a blast to play. It is wicked for the kills for sure. It is really a nice mech no joke.

To me it looks like one team got saddled with a really bad pre-made that was dropping for schitzengiggles.

You could say that about a lot of TT builds in TT though.

(Not saying you're wrong, but many TT builds are bad regarding heat).

The champion mechs are fine IMO and better than the stock variants they had before. Those stock variants were underpowered since they were really just generalist mechs designed to fight things other than mechs.

The main problem I see with matchmakig right now is that it's matched by weight and some kind of calculated number not relevant to the player mech's combat abilities. In the BT Table top game they don't match teams by weight or match skill. They use a point system based on equipment. Maybe they should try matching players by the value of the equipment of the mech. This would attempt to match the higher priced mechs (Endo Steel, dual heat sinks and possibly XL engines) with other mechs of similar value.

As long as they use a Battle Value system that doesn't hinge on the C-bill cost of equipment. Some equipment is SUPER over priced in relation to the reward it offers in game.

That is true. I wonder if the system they use in the table top version would translate well into this game?

The principle... Perhaps. The values of the table top version? Absolutely not.

But my problem with BV is - if you honestly can make a workable BV, you probably have the tools to actually balance the gear in the first place. Battletech didn't do it because it basically wanted permanent backwards compatibility. If it was my game system, I would have no qualms of creating a 2nd (or whatever) edition and change values.
