Hey everyone, ive been playing mwo for a while now and am interested in purchasing a Jagermech. I would really appreciate your thoughts on which variant and build you think is best. I'm a fan of auto cannons and have plenty of c-bills. Thanks to everyone who shares their thoughts and ideas!

Well, i have only Firebrand. But it depends on what loadouts you are looking for. Youll probobly need more than 2 balistic hardpoints(as you said, you like balistics), so thats DD(XL260) and S(STD260) variants. S has more lasers and DD has more balistics, pick your poison.
The [DD] if you are going to boat balistics, it has couple of energy hardpoints.
[A] have bunch of missiles, couple of energy and a couple balistics. Seems like it has less torso twist than others(Torso Yaw: 90 °).
[S] have a mix of energy and balistics.
I see now that none have high energy hardpoints like the FB.

This is DD, WARNING this build is HOT HOT HOT

If it was me i would probobly take the [S], you can run 4 ac-5 or 2AC-5 and 2AC-2 with good energy backup.

But i will leave this to more experienced Jäger pilots.

I would recommend starting of with the JM6-S. Aside from being the cheaper of the 2 more conventional variants it can do all of the more practical and popular builds with ease AND you have 4 torso mounted energy hardpoints to fool around with.

I would recommend starting off with dual AC10s and either dual or quad medium lasers with an STD engine.

Twin Gauss & Twin AC/20 are the two best configs for the Jagermech, so try to get at least one setup like that.

Jager-S with one of the below.

2x AC-5 + 4x mlas (STD)........reliable, always good
2x AC-5 + 2x AC-2 (XL) ........insane damage dealer
2x AC-20 (XL)........lethal
2x UAC-5 + secondaries (STD)........not my favorite
3x UAC-5 (XL)........can be good depending how tolerant of jams you are
2x Gauss (XL)........formerly the best loadout in the game pre gauss nerf
2x LBX-10 + secondaries (STD)........some like this
2x AC-10 + secondaries (STD)........situational?
other

I cannot recommend the Firebrand enough. The Ilya Murdersweat may technically have higher direct carnage potential, however since it doesn't have jump jets it doesn't possess a definitive advantage or trait that the JM6-FB doesn't. And the FB has a far more advantageous hardpoint layout (and i.m.h.o. just looks plain cooler by an order of magnitude) and goes a bit faster. In fact, I'd actually call the Faceburner a better mech than the Ilcutya, simply because the difference in DPS can be made so very small while the layout advantages are so very big.

The JM6-A is probably the least seen of the variants, and I am surprised at this, because it is the chassis that allows for the greatest degree of flexibility and some of the funniest and most effective builds. For instance, one that I greatly enjoy slinging around is the 2x UAC/5, 4xSSRM2, 2xML build with an XL280. It's fast, it's reasonably high-alpha and very high-DPM without heating up much, it's got reach, it's got ammo capacity, it doesn't let you down on armor either and is particularly deadly against light mechs, which can be extremely useful.

The JM6-DD is the comedy build ballistic boat, and probably the initially weakest of the variants, since it starts off with atrocious heat management, horrible armor and an engine that is just plain wrong. It also can't be built seriously in any way without putting machine guns in two of your arm ballistics slots or just leaving them be. But this can be exploited; on its own, an MG is a horrible weapon, but four of them blazing away at the same time with their enhanced crit rating while you carve pieces off the enemy's armor with a pair of serious weapons (such as LB10s or AC10s or UAC5s) in close combat, combined with the high armor and engine rating you're likely going to get with that build, can make this chassis rather deadly. I'll say it without shame: The DD was built for machine guns and comedy.

Finally, the JM6-S is the "solid contender" among the different types, and tends to be the one that works best for you when things go wrong, because of energy backup weapons. I'd say it's best used as a quad dakka gun with AC2s, and then four MLs in the torsos to back them up, if you don't want to simply go for an AC20 or dual Gauss build. The only difficulty with this build is heat management, since everything else about this mech is very straightforward; line up the target, depress the triggers, and don't stop shooting until every hostile contact has been scattered about enough to cease being capable of any threat.

My favorite build is one that generally goes against what is popular with Jager pilots. I run 2 LB10x AC's with assorted secondary weapons based on the variant. S- 4 medium lasers, higher engine. A- 2 medium lasers, 4 SSRM2's, lower engine. Firebrand- 6 medium lasers. They're nice high damage builds for those of us who aren't always a great shot (or have computers with weak specs).

If someone wanted to use the stock engine with new pilot money, would this Jager be beastly & fun?

Seriously thinking of maybe building one of these!

I named it after my WoW Warlock, "Critney Fearz!"
