Alright I am a Noob here but I have a legitimate question. I am tired of spending C-bills to increase the armor values of my 'Mech. I purchased Ferro Fibrous Armor for both my Spider Variants. When I go to up the numbers on the various pieces, It says I dont have the item and must buy it. SO by the time I am done giving it armor, I am up to 100k C bills just in upgraded armor alone. This is really stupid and I dont appreciate losing my C-Bills to putting armor on my mech that I already purchased. Please let an admin answer this because this is really irritating.

Since you're not going to get an "admin answer" on this...
Short version:
Working as intended.
Long version:
When you purchase the upgrade to Ferro-Fibrous armor, it gives you the exact amount of armor your 'Mech already had. If you need more armor points, they need to come from somewhere. If you don't have a stockpile (explained below) then you have to purchase more armor points.
If you sell a 'Mech without selling the equipment (leaving the check-box empty), you keep its armor points. If you sell a 'Mech and sell the equipment along with it (put a check in the box) then you don't keep the armor points.
As you advance in the game and start selling 'Mechs but keep the equipment, you will begin to stockpile both standard armor points and Ferro-Fibrous armor points (depending on which was installed on the 'Mechs you sold). Then when you buy new 'Mechs and have to add armor, you take from the stockpile first, before having to purchase more armor points.
Even with big stockpiles of armor points, you still have to purchase the upgrade to Ferro-Fibrous when you want it on the 'Mech. But when you do, you won't have to buy more armor points until after your stockpile is gone.

Durant gives a very good explanation. As a side note, you probably shouldn't bother with Ferro-Fibrous armor anyway on anything but light, and maybe a couple of the medium mechs. Endo Steel gives you much better weight savings for the crit slots anyway.

He has spiders, so I hope he's bought both Endo and Ferro. The Endo doesn't lead to any further costs though, so wouldn't raise any issues.

SO that is why I never have paid for increasing armour... I always wondered about that.
I should go find out how many points of armour I have stored up in my Mechbay. ha.
Not a good day, unless you learn something new.
