Is it just me or has half the community turned into a bunch of bloody wimps? It seems like every second or third game, one side of the match decides to go and hide in a corner rather than come out at have at it. The HPG manifold is particularly bad for it since one team can go into the grotto under the dish and group blast anyone who sticks their head in.

Come on guys, how is that fun? or challenging? or a demonstration of skill?

I can hear the response already "it's a valid strategy" or "we play competitively to win". Well good for you, you win by hiding until the other team gets bored. Bravo you brave little competitive soldiers.

It's also a completely wussy, girly, bull$h!t waste of my time. I play this for entertainment and actually enjoy blasting and getting blasted.

PGI can I have a queue just for recreational players so I can avoid those who want to be serious about playing a game. Their competitive tactics remind me of a bunch of little trying to get away from a mouse. PU$$ie$!!!!!

Not wimps Trolls. PGI has a new breeding program they are funding with the clan money. They want to see if the Trolls will over run the sever pop and kill the game so they can run with whatever money is left.

Skirmish mode?

If so, Welcome to the Fulfillment of the Community`s Prophecy.

Assault or Conquest have no such issues, because you can simply say "Pfft, to hell with you guys" and win by capture. But that`s exactly what the people that demanded skirmish wanted in no uncertain terms, no way to end the match early. Now they must lie in the bed that they made. :D

Always hate this kind of comment.

It is THEIR time too, and they can do with it what they please. If you don't like it, quit, and queue up another mech.

Pilot a DDC with ECM and lead your team to victory.. or defeat.

He's not hard core enough for a second mech.

Wait...you're against people trying to win a match by using a valid tactic? They aren't running off and powering down on top the wall, they are simply putting themselves in a better position (which can backfire badly if the enemy comes in multiple doors simulaneously).

If you're against any sort of tactics, and want to shoot things I hear there are other mech games which cater to the even more arcady crowd.

Weirdly enough, the freedom of Skirmish mode actually does lead to some really good firefights, better than I'd seen previously in the other modes. The sad truth is that 90% of the time you'll have a lone Jenner or Spider who's half past dead but still thinks he's going to run around and snipe off the other team.. and typically just ends up running around doing nothing for 5 minutes.

Strategies on Manifold are still evolving, but it seems wise to control the central area because you can set up kill zones where you can blast the enemy but they can't blast you. It's an ideal situation, tactically speaking.

The only way to break it is to charge in each entrance with every mech you have and get down and dirty in an "in your face" brawl. Not many PUG teammates have to stones to commit to that sort of thing though. Hence the stalemates.

Lol
Recreational queue for serious players
That was best part of the post

Alternatively you could oh I dunno make sure someone on your "serious" team keeps an eye on the area and if they start moving into that position maybe stop them?

I'm sorry that some definitions of thinking man's shooter go beyond stomp to middle of map so me can shoot you with me weapons you sissy

Sorry... All I read was "Why can't we all charge to the middle of the map and beat the hell out of each other until only of us is left". AKA... Russian Park Brawl.

Not even mentioning how you preclude that action would involve challenge and skill...

I don't knwo what this thread is about, but it isn't about gameplay balance, so it deserved a move.

Hmm. Someone likes something similar to the charge of the Light Brigade:

"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Posted Image Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Posted Image Rode the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Posted Image Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Posted Image Rode the six hundred.

Well, it did not really work out quite well for those Brits:
