I've had this happen before in my blr-1s, except I wasn't hit by any weapons, my entire side just exploded and I died.
what gives?

BTW you're running XL engines on those 'mechs? Cause I'm sure I've been blown up like this even with a STD one.

Though , there have been glitches where people have died while being completely intact. I remember one match where a 6 small laser jenner shot a fresh high lander with full armor with a single alpha and killed him without doing more then 25 damage to him. I know this because he was on TS with me yelling his lungs out about it.

XL engines blow you up for losing a side torso.

Ever die to having one ton of MG ammo in a arm that got crit? Fun times.
EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT: Also keep in mind if you get shot by more then one weapon type at the same time it will list it as one weapon. I forgot to add that.

It's like if you got hit and ammo explode and it goes like this:
"medium laser"
"ammo explosion"
"medium laser"
"X destroyed"
the ammo explosion is pushed out of the log by the log's limited UI space.

Unfortunately, these kinds of things happen and you just have to shrug it off. Maybe one day they'll find a magic bullet to fix the hit detection in CryEngine like they did with the HUD bugs.

funny you mention hit detection. For the past 4-5 games I've been watching hits on my screen with AC20 whiff completely, and theres significant variation in the enemy, from far off and moving lateral to sitting almost still at point blank. It's inconsistent enough that sometimes I do hit, but otherwise, nothing.

I was watching an Atlas go toe to toe with a smoking jenner once. They were the last two alive and it should have been no problem as the Atlas had the jenner pinned behind some crates. However, the Atlas suddenly exploded without taking fire from the jenner. Only thing I can figure is that the PGI gods were not pleased with the pilot.
That aside, sometimes we think we're clear and free when we're actually getting torn up. All I can really say is to watch your six. Something I try to teach new pilots: if you don't have eyes on a given spot (ie behind you, the next corner, etc), you must assume that half of the enemy team is there.

If I recall correctly the medium laserboat hunch is the only mech in the entire game that gets hit by the highest ghost heat multiplier. It just occurred to me I never actually tested to see how bad that heat actually is (because hunchbacks are bad).

yes, I have an xl engine, but a med or 2 on 46 points on armor (excluding additional points for internal structure) shouldn't do something like this, somethings clearly broken because this has happened to me before and from the looks of it, others as well.
