Post up any Mecha anime you have seen and liked, For me it's:
Martin Successor Nadesico
Full Metal Panic (Including Fumoffu and Second Raid)
Code Geass
Mobile Fighter G Gundam

And I recently Came across Vandread that seams cool also!

Gundam 00 I liked. None of that typical Gundam 13 year old piloting war machines {Scrap}.

I saw both Patlabor movies and enjoyed those too, but that was a long, long time ago.
