WAIT..WTH??

The point i was aiming for with the quote was ..well lemme backup a bit, when i first heard / read on mmo report that a mech mmo was coming i was instantly excited hoping or more along the lines of thinking omfg YES!!! someone finally got off thier butts and created a mech (mmporg).
I've played since pen n paper , built my own foam sets in the basement , painted countless figures including airtech , citytech , tanks ,hovers
and being a rc nut i'm even in the process of building a 3 foot tall rc wolverine.
THAT BEING SAID the quoted text was pointed at the whole map editer stuff..as the mmporg i happen to like to play does not have this, this is a feature of rts and the nvn type of game., the reason i point out nvn so much is basically it is the only rts that a person can actually launch a server , have it listed and people can come and go as they please. but there is a limit to how many players can be on and there are lvl restrictions somewhat, this is as about as much as i know about it, my brother tried to get me into after the tram / fel patch in uo and i really couldnt wrap my head around it.
i do appriciate the replies , all though some of you missed my point i was trying to make about me wanting this to be a mmporg instead of a nvn type of game.
I really do want a mech mmporg where we you can get out and walk around as a player and also incluse air , hover , tracked vehicles along with battlesuits. also where you choose what type of piloting skills you put points into so not everyone is in a mech, my vision is where you have ppl skilled in all vehicles, armor repair and engines, weapons design - retro engineriing from clans to sphere , basically everything from pen and paper transferred into an mmporg.
do i want something like wow draped with the mech universe, hell no , i hate wow.
i envision something like a cross between uo and swg with some planetside thrown in .
anyway this was what i was getting at with my opening post. Again i do appriciate the responses and insight from various points of view , but in all honesty a mech game like the nvn type just draped in mech universe doesnt sound very interresting imo , i can basically play any number of the rts versions i already own with other players or my brother because from what i've read already this isn't that much of a reboot , it just sounds more like a a resurection after almost decade without a new mech game released...
I do have some interrest in this as much as it sounds like it dont , but i would rather see the effort put into something great than a mediocre attempt.

(online gaming) A massively multiplayer online game. A computer game in which a large number of players can simultaneously interact in a persistent world.
Even though MWO is online, and that it's a multiplayer game, it doesn't correspond to the "which a large number of players can simultaneously interact in a persistent world" part. So no, it's not an MMO per definition, but it's close.
Correct. MWO is not an MMO, but has MMO like qualities.

If there is a map editor at some point and the possibility of addons then that stuff should not be allowed in "ranked games".

I don't want to highjack this thread, but is this addressed anywhere?
Who runs/organizes the "World" outside of MWO?
OK.... Back to the thread

MMORPG's rarely have map editors, sometimes they get mission editors eventually, but never at first.

Looks like you fit the description. You probably mean you are not an MMORPG, but have MMORPG elements.
I think people are really really really getting too caught up on a game tag.

How many hundreds of players will be able to gather in-game(not "in-lobby") together, live?
If the answer is "they wont", or the answer comes with a qualifier along the lines of "but half of them are fighting the other half", the game isn't an MMO, sorry.

ok cool , i was wanting an admin or the like to repond so i may ask this pointed question :
how or why was the decision reached to make the game this type instead of a true mmporg , or was making it a mmporg even looked into or at? , because I know i can't be the only person who would never look at another mmporg if someone was to release a mech mmporg and not nerf or carebear it.
also , is there any chance in the future of the franchise to do a mmporg with the colaberation of companies now involved?
I'm really serious with this question, I am probably one of the biggest mech fans ever and personaly would love to see it happen.
