A way to effectively identify chronic Team-Killers could include an automated reporting system that tracks how many times a player kills their teammates. This would eliminate the need for people to remember someone's name and manually report them after a match, and it would completely prevent fraudulent reports by griefers.

All you'd have to do is track an additional statistic in someone's profile alongside their kills, deaths, matches played, etc. When someone generates too many TeamKills within a period of time, they can receive a warning or something like that. You can can imagine where it goes from there.

I am suggesting this so people will always remember that ComStar is watching you... so you should play nice.

Yeah, you chumps heard me. Tired of people ruining your game? Want to immerse yourself in a fake universe but rely on real world probabilities in this fake universe? (<--heard that way to often in to many video games) How do you balance both?

Simples! Team mate cannot shoot team mate. But to still keep that "situational awarness" so many joystick warriors want, your shot still hits and....does nothing! But you get stuck with weapon reload, energy weapon recharge, and the mech over heats. Example: That dick in an awesome unloads his 3 PPC in the back of an allied hunchback on purpose, he can do it until he explodes because nothing happens! Or the Hunchback takes careful aim with his AC/20, only to have a fellow village ***** with a Jenner run into the scope just as the hunchie fires the gun....to do nothing! as the hunchie whines over team speak as the enemy mech takes cover and he waits for his weapon to reload while being down -1 ammo.

There are way to control TKs and team damage, but what ever to the situational awarness joystick jocks that believe they really are playing their game. Why punish your self and pay for others repairs (great system WoT! nothing like idiots driving into my shot!) or deal with people that abuse their weapons so they can destroy you; cause it would be nice that friendly fires is impotent for the dicks and just punishing you for not killing the enemy mech but you only waste the cost of a round when a team mate suddenly throws themselves on the enemy to protect them.

this isn't like Modern Warfare where someone getting surprised coming around a corner can kill you in like one shot, at best accidental friendly fire will leave just a few dings in your armor, but not likely kill you outright (unless you were hanging on by a thread almost dead anyway). As for griefers, well I'm sure they'll have ways of dealing with em.

No, because there are more ways to ruin somebody's game than them just shooting you. They can run into you over and over deliberately just to be annoying. . . or position themselves so as to block your movement for no other reason than to **** you off and get attention for themselves. Game ruiners are a fact and you have to be able to deal with them.

There needs to be an instantaneous solution to these people.
