I am sure there are many exceptions, but for ME, this is the first MMO I have played in like 10 years that did not have some sort of fun holiday event... some holiday sale or promo... but nothing.

Something like "Find & kill the unmanned holiday locust on the map and get bonus 500k C-Bills" or or a free dingle-dangle, or something!

I do not gripe much about the game. I love it. But I was a disappointed they did jack-stick-nothing for the holiday season.

Should we read anything into that? :-(

When will people stop calling this an MMO?

Well, for what I am used to on other MMO's I have played, it was pretty minimal. As in I forgot about it. LOL

But I sit-corrected: they did not do "nothing"... they did really, REALLY little... :-)

How about the frozen city with all the buildings decorated in lights!?!? :-) ah well...

Were you online for the holidays?

There were 2 events (Kill a Dev and 12 Wins of Christmas), and 2 sales, all announced in social media, the forum, and the game client.

Oh, and a promo code for 7 days of free premium time...

So yeah, they did absolutely nothing over the holidays :D

This is not World of Warcraft, or at this time even really an MMO. Its a MOBA. You won`t find a "chop down a christmas tree and bring it to person X" special Holiday quest or "drink 10 eggnog" achievement when you press launch.... Only people that want to kill you

I am on "too much". :-P

"2 sales" - Damn how far back are you counting? LOL. I would not call the clan packages a "sale".

Strange enough, I got a X-mas tree. huh.

OK, OK. You win. They did some stuff. Perhaps my bar is too high from the last several MMO (this is NOT an MMO, I guess) for what to expect at the holidays! I give.

The OP is right, we need more events commemorating gun-fighting dentists.

hmmmm
Massive? Guess that's subjectve but thousands playing isn't what I'd call miniscule
Multiplayer? Check
Online? Check

Why would you care that someone refers to it as an MMO? lol

If you're referring to the consistent world well that will jsut have to wait for CW but it is by definition an MMO.

This is listed under MMORPG.com, but I regress this is BF2142 with only Mechs. Granted a helluva lot better because of the lore and everything, and certainly it has hopes of have some kind of persistent world, but until that happens its just a deathmatch game.

And by that logic that makes COD the biggest MMO around.

Not arguing as I agree, but MMOs have a persistent world thing which MWO lacks, until CW comes out, and even then that's questionable as all we have about it is speculation.

well it depends on how cynical you want to be really. Right now? I have to agree, it's just a multiplayer add-on that you get in most any shooter nowadays minus the single player story portion

I do wish PGI would do more things like the "Operation 24" and "Kill a dev" challenges throughout the year to drum up player interest. If they could somehow tie it to seasons or upcoming features or content, so much the better. I realize it's time consuming to prepare for these events, but I think it's worth it in the long run to maintain the "buzz".

I'd love to see weekly ladders of some kind. Top player of the week gets maybe 500MC
2-20 get 100 MC
21-50 get 50 MC
51-100 get 500K cbills
101-500 get 250k
etc.
those are just example numbers but SOMEthing to give players something to think about besides just earning some cbills every match.

you could run challenges like get 100 assists for 100k cbills
get xx kills with a certain weapon

just things like that and that really wouldn't take much since they already track all of the info on the back end.

Like every other frackin' thing apparently this is bottlenecked by UI 2.0, as per the Ekman somewhere in one of the atds.

But yeah those are all good ideas.

Honestly, "kill a dev" could be run perpetually and not many people would end up getting the reward.

The correct term would be a MMOBA (Massively Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), so whilst I agree that it's not an MMO in the classic MMORPG sense it's not too technically inaccurate to call it an MMO.

Yes, it does.

1: Kill a Dev, overall reports that dev's were very scarce.

2: 12 days/Snowglobe, get a Christmas Weed instead. Yeah, text said Tree, pic said Snowglobe.

Now, in War Thunder, we had events for 17 days (still ongoing) where if you complete 10 out of 17 events, you get two free Premium Planes. Plus, tons of sales and discounts to boot. At 25-50% off in most cases.
