I looked through the forums, dug through Google, and spent half an hour in my mech digging through the controls to find a way to remap the keys so I can set up my weapon groups. I've even tried using a few programs to remap my keys, to no avail. I'm probably the only person with this keyboard and I can't map weapon groups without this button.
So, is there a config file or something I need to edit to fix this? If so, where is it?

There is a weapongroups.xml file which stores all of that data. I have no idea how to construct the weapon groups using it, though.

Hey, you're right! I found the only mech that had weapons assigned to "0". Changed those to the weapon group I wanted and tried to save, but it wouldn't let me. I saved the file I changed to dekstop, deleted the file in my profile, and pasted the modified file into my profile - and it worked! Thank you for the info!

I also have a keyboard with no Right Control button. What you need to do is go into your game options and REMAP THE KEY. It's called "Toggle Weapon Group"
Edit: You don't want to directly edit those text files nor do you need to. If you swap weapons around, it will default new weapons to group 1. UI2.0 will allow you to set weapon groups in the mechbay.

I checked for that option in game, and didn't see. I did find it in the Launcher Window -> Menu/Options. Must have missed it in game. Thanks for the info.

The menu is identical in both. However, the name "Toggle weapon group" is perhaps not the most obvious name and it's a rather long list of key bindings that aren't categorized or sorted so I can see how you might have missed it.
