I deliberately bump into allies just to see them rage at me doing 1 point of damage to them.

It's harder to avoid temmates than you'd think, because you have no pheripheral vision and most people just walk right into you because they don't seem to care.

You're actually pretty fast enough to avoid them. It's just matter of aware of the surrounding ^_^

Try this. when starting, don't move for 20 seconds. Stops you from hitting them or more often them hittin you.

You shouldn't be bumping into anything as a light O.o

They're really mobile for a reason.

Its called "Cost of doing Business"

One of the downsides of playing a light.

I pilot lights frequently and have done so since closed beta. Yes you get some times normally at the start of a match , when someone bumps into you but its not game breaking my any means.

As a light, my leg armor is my life, so when some friendly mech bumps into me and strips off some of my leg armor, it's not a little thing.

Seriously, I feel like I have to be just as careful around my lance mates as I do around the enemy.

Friendly collision damage is bullcrap, if you ask me.

Good thing I am not asking you

You are small and fast. Lead follow or get out of the way buddy!

This is a game with giant walking robots. I don't play it because it is realistic. I play it because I want to have fun.

Losing leg armor to a stupid mechanic isn't fun.

So play hawkin instead than.

I've piloted a Jenner many times and I've not once noticed a problem with this because the leg damage you take even from falling 200m is negligible. Just because the color of your leg armor on the paper doll flashes yellow does not mean you took any damage that's worth crying about.

This really frustrated me yesterday on frozen city. I'm following a Stalker in my Cicada, staying with the team to provide them some ECM cover. Stalker goes between two buildings, and I start to follow him, when he takes fire and tries to back up. Well, he is running into me, so I try to back up too, but I can't. Turn around and see another teammate, a hunchie, is behind me and he refuses to backup, while the Stalker refuses to go forward, since he is afraid of the enemy fire. Took about 10 seconds before I was crushed like a grape between them.

I must be missing something because I have to wonder why you didn't take the opportunity to melt the stalker's rear armor there.

EDIT: I'm a dufus and thought the stalker was an enemy so nevermind me.

Friendly fire penalty if he ended up blowing his way out of the masher and accidentally killed the guy.

Oh I thought the stalker was an enemy mech for some reason, that makes more sense then.

Well when people do not know how to pilot a mech and face hug this is what you get.
However I disagree w/collision dmg being bullcrap. This is a so called 'simulator' (although does not always feel like it) and as such we should have collision dmg, not only that but we should have had collisions turned back a long time ago as well. Walking through another mech...that's lame and leads new people to think its okay, which is giving them bad piloting habits.

When a match starts and your ping is bad, you get bounced into mechs no matter how careful you were.
Even being bounced into walls because the server disagrees with where you are causes damage.

In reference to Khajja's suggestion, this is a Griffin 55 ton battlemech with an FOV of 100.
Spoiler

I am able to change fov on my desktop but not my laptop, any ideas why?

When was the last time you did a fresh install? If it was before the third person patch, that's your answer. Reinstall it fresh. Something about the third person patch has a switching lock for FOV in third person, that on prior installs breaks the user.cfg file.
