It's infuriating how often you get hit by AC and you don't even realize it because there are no effects other than your mech in the bottom left corner showing you took damage.

No sound effect of being hit, no shaking visual effects, etc.

Some games I don't even realize until I hear "critial damage" and glance down and notice I am cored through. My thoughts are "What the hell!?!?!?" then start looking around and see this AC pounding me in the **** and I am just so loose I don't even realize.

It's not an "AC bug." It's HSR. Your client sees a shot miss you, so there's no impact effects. Then HSR updates to say that the shot actually hit and applies damage, but doesn't bother telling your client to produce impact effects.

And HSR works from high ping to low, not the other way around. (which still boggles the mess out of my mind). So anything below 100ms is kinda screwed. Anything above and HSR actually works for you in most cases. Many times with my stable 50-60ms ping I find my mech cored and or die with AC20 round being the last thing to hit me. Pretty sure I know when ACs hit me. However no effects on my side. Just a quirk of the game unfortunately until they can get in there and clean up some code. It doesn't happen often enough to stop me from playing altogether.

it's pretty hard to fix..client will either "play" hit effect or doesn't ..things is.. client is just guessing what is happening on server..so sometimes..it may be wrong..

Not sure how to approach this problem..maybe force your client to play "hit" animation after server notification? this could be even more confusing...keep in mind..it also works in both ways...client thinks you got hit..but server tells you otherwise.. I think there is no perfect solution for this..

Yeah I had this for Lasers as-well. It's not just AC's.

The HSR updating explanation seems to make sense, but I wish I'd get a delayed sound too.

Yes, it's HSR. But I like to call it Ghost Damage.
