too much focus on better.

What ever happened to just having fun? I weep for this generation, i weep....... :P

Killing lolcusts is fun.

Killing things/lolcusts with a Commando was tons of fun.

Killing things with a Spider-5V... not fun at all.

I hope that clarifies my position.

I've just started taking the Locust mechs out. They were the last of the Pheonix mechs to try! :P

I'm actually surprised how well I can make it work. If only it had JJ. -_-

I'll Master the 3 of them. ^_^

Fine. But they are good for nothing. Its a hipster mech, ppl use em because they are {Scrap}.

I run mine more because of my buy-in to the sunk-cost fallacy and because I do enjoy running super fast. If I wanted to drive terrible mechs just because they're terrible and I'm trying to be all ironic and anti-establishment then I'd have run Spiders back before they became broken ninja mechs.

When tonnage limits are in Locusts will make good bait/distraction mechs. I mean, they're good at it right now too but without limits you might as well take a jenner.

Off the bat, the Phoenix Locust is the worst of the bunch. I'm still looking for a good workable combo for that. The other mechs though can serve well though. Here are some general pros above and beyond standard light mech pros.

Locust Pros-Small frame. Smaller than a Jenner even. With speed perk its the fastest mech I believe. Cheap. Laser and Missile version for your taste.

Locust Cons-Low armor, even for a light mech. Phoenix variant is absolute *****. Best used to fulfill a harassing role. Not likely to rack up big numbers.

The way I see it you pilot a Locust for the same reason you'd pilot a Commando, you do it because you want to be challenged or you do it for **** and giggles. The other light mechs are more or less easy mode compared to the Locust and Commando. My motto for the two mechs are.

If your a real man you go Commando.

If your a real man with a death wish you go Locust.

The player base is bad enough I no longer enjoy the game, can never count on my team to put a solid effort.

Really? Wow. :P
The guys I play with/against kick arse. And just seem to keep getting better ^_^

I think you must've hit that substantially higher skill bracket where everyone else just can't keep up -_-

You may have a point! But I already have Spiders and Jenners, and the Locust "kind of" feels like it was $20. :o

So I'll take the pain with the glory and have me a good time in the Locust! :) As long as you don't play conquest there is usually not enough other lights for you to worry. <_<

Locust vs big mechs 1vs1 is too fun.

My biggest fear in matches is team damage. Sometimes even your team mates can't see you.

I bought a M locust last night. Its my second locust AT-ST. I put extra focus on my 2 AMS it had 3 tons of ammo.
Took it out on skirmish.
I made it my duty to play support/ mobile shield. I didn't scout with it. Keep and eye on who on our team got missle icons and would run right next to them as they headed for cover ect. When we got close I would shoot behind my tank(atlas).

It ran about 89 kph . Its got 2 small pulse LA, regular small laser center, and a medium laser right A. I pretend its a Star Wars AT-ST. :)
I couldn't fit double heat sinks, gonna experiment smaller engines or less weapons for bap or more ams. I see good pocket support here.

I hope a "hero" locust comes with 1 Missle Narc tube hardpoint RA, 2 energy CT, 2 ballistics LA.

and?

Doesn't feel the same. There are faster cars than a Porsche 911 Turbo. But I PREFER driving a 911, and will whoop most fools in their "superior" overpriced supercars in a roadrace.

It's all about the meat, not the metal.
