Too bad I just can't get interested enough to play a match. I have grown bored with the content thus far. I really do need to play some though, my premium time is just wasting away.

I've been playing skirmish a lot recently because it's new and interesting, actually I did notice that it was slightly more challenging than assault many times.
I would welcome even more game modes, maybe defend the base vs destroy the base for example (with more than one building though lol), or others.

i was one of those who said ... "give us new game modes" i said that because assault is a deathmatch... with the "alternative" (and imho still poorly implemented) capture mechanic...
and i was one of those who cried out when the first guy mentioned "Deathmatch" as an alternative .... *insert18+cursehere*
well, maybe seeing the current workload and backlogg PGI is facing, the best they could do for breaking up the stall gameplay of the last year, was simply bringing a deathmatch and editing the spawnlocations... fair enough, i didn´t expect even this that soon...
BUT, to give a statement @your post: i think it´s totally reasonable - now that the car´s smooched the tree - to criticise WHAT we have to play now. and assuming this mode stays for a while, why not finetune it at least ...
(btw, i like the environmental thing... we could do that for all modes, current and future, not as a "skirmish fix", but as an MWO mechanic...+10 @the suggestion)
i personally don´t think we need a fix for skirmish.. i witnessed those annoying situations maybe 3 or 4 times since the mode´s in, most games end with the last kill... and in most of those the last mech (funfact: 90% a not very much damaged Spider^^)survives no longer than 3 minutes... i can live with that...
plus, and that´s really just me, i find it funny what ppl come up with finding a good "timeout" position

I'll always be using the ANY search mode, nice to change it up. One mode gets boring.

(however there is really only 1 version of Straight TDM sooo............oh solaris I guess they would also queue for so that would work.....)

But it's only a few seconds more, of course it's better to not to wait for even a few seconds but maybe a better fix would be to get rid of the ready button instead lol.
But I'd still rather see new modes and new gameplay with a few seconds longer to wait, than the same old two modes forever to save a few seconds.

It's actually made me appreciate even more that in game anyways, there isn't a whole lot of players who go out of their way to annoy other players, unlike quite a few multiplayer games out there that do have more people who want to ruin other folks fun for twisted kicks. Skirmish hiding would be the perfect game mode to troll a match, and, at least myself having never yet experience this once (closest thing is an average light pilot that extends the game by doing a bit of damage to the enemy when you know he isn't going to do much at all, but nonetheless, even if annoying, I'll always defend a last player standing right to fight it to the end.
Sometimes you get those rare times when you spectate an excellent pilot, those are interesting to watch.

Just to build here, stricter drop weight restrictions and a shorter time limit (say, 5 minutes instead of 15) would be correct answers as well.

Nah, that's just the extent of his goldfish like memory. He forgets that he quit last week, plays a few games, remembers he was mad, and quits again. The following week the cycle picks up once more.

Personally I like objective based Pvp. Deathmatch just feels odd in any game Ive seen it in. Normally fights happen for a reason. You fight an enemy because you are wanting to take something or deny it t your foe. Yeah you might want to thin out the enemy but thisis usually in relation to you objective. Its easier to capture a base because there are fewer enemies on the field.
As it is right now Skirmish is just assault without a point. The real problem with assault wasn't the preence of the ase but rather the mechanics surrounding the bases capture. Actually turning it into a fortified position that has some means of protecting itself would be very helpful. Requireing a certain minimum reuired tonnage to start the cap would also be helpful.

Uhm that's the exact same mode everyone was QQing about and griefing over the cap mechanic

If only there was some sort of mode that had a base to capture to prevent this kind of thing.
If only there were some way to force a quicker end to the match
If only we has a cap point to Assault.....
