No sounds in space, great.

You can hear your own weapons firing, but not vicious damage done to your mech? How can direct impacts be causing no or extremely quiet sound effects? Having one and not the other is inconsistent, and detracts from the otherwise great ambience of the map.

Pretty much this^. This map is becoming almost impossible to play in Mediums since I'll often lose components before I even know that I'm being hit. Mediums mechs don't have the speed or armor to take a lot of fire in this game already, and adding in issues in even telling when you're taking fire just further exacerbates the problems. I understand PGI wanting HPG to have a unique feel to it's sound design, and that's fine. I love the changes in weapon sounds that your mech makes while firing them, and they're perfectly audible and let me know aurally exactly what I'm firing. I just want the same level of sound design applied to weapon hits as well so that I'm not constantly surprised by being cored or losing 50% of my weapons to an enemy that made no sound while dumping 30 point alphas into me repeatedly.

Another odd thing I've noticed about this is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to how things are muffled. AC's, for example, are all over the place. The hardest ones for me to hear generally are the AC/20 and UAC/5, which are basically the two deadliest AC's in the game right now! Or I'll sometimes hear something from Medium Lasers, but getting hit with multiple Large Lasers is largely inaudible. It's almost as if the deadlier the weapon the quieter it is, which is the exact opposite of what it should be.

Strange. This happens occasionally but not often.

This is a comment that adds zero value to the discussion. Thanks for playing.

Also, you can say that anything is just about QQ. Spider hitbox has a hole in it that damage passes through? QQ. Models didn't reflect weapons mounted on them? QQ. It's a meaningless and stupid statement. If you have an actual argument for why this inconsistent sound issue is somehow balanced and not some broken mechanic then go right ahead and make it.

Exactly, the only sounds you should NOT hear from inside your mech are the sounds of the other mechs weapons firing, anything that directly impacts your mech should be heard, thats how physics works.

Even then since you are all standing on a hard surface in a metal robot you would probably feel other weapons fire as the vibrations travel through even if faintly.

Ya, this is pretty rediculous to think that firing weapons would produce sound but an impact wouldn't?

Sounds from other mech's firing, moving, jump jetting, ect shouldn't be playing any sounds. But anything that affects you directly should be making sounds as it vibrates the interior of the mech, which contains matter to transmit the vibrations.
