Oh look, the children have their JJ-assault alphabuild lances out again... *sigh*

I've actually been running the Gauss lately as well, but only in the Trial Dragon.
I have played 88 matches, firing an average of 19 rounds/match at a 65% accuracy for 15.1dmg/hit.

(51 matches, 0.7w/l, 1.8kdr, 391dmg/match in the trial dragon, so no jokes...)

I've also been running AC10's as of late in my CTF3d and SHD's (briefly).
I have played 316 matches, firing an average of 45 rounds/match at a 68% accuracy for 10.4dmg/hit.

Not terrible, but obviously not my best weapon.

2000m/s is a large buff. I'm always amused when people omit this part of the Gauss change.

Oh Really???

Quote

For example, in the late 2000s, the U.S. Navy tested a railgun that accelerates a 3.2 kg (7 pound) projectile to hypersonic velocities of approximately 2.4 kilometres per second (5,400 mph), about Mach 7. They gave the project the Latin motto "Velocitas Eradico", Latin for "I, [who am] speed, eradicate".
2,000 Meters is still a touch slow by comparison. But getting better. ;)

If we used those number in this game, it might as well be CoD with instant point and click bullet mechanics.

I would actually liken the 200 pound Gauss round to be MUCH more impressive then 7 pound Navy Railgun projectile.

2400 m/s = 7 pounds
2000 m/s = 200 pounds

Context!

I don't get it? I don't see a problem?

There was never a problem. You know why the GR "died" just like most smart people. There is a big difference between being able to be easily effective and having to work to be effective. The bads and lazies would rather go with option A. Now, do I use the GR? I don't but it was more because I never could stand the sound effect and I hated the damned thing during TT year and years ago. I stick to my guns, pun intended, and use what I love. The meta will come and go but I am as constant as the Northern Star.

Like the (instant) convergeance system!

You and many didn't see it but when he's jumping, he uses the Lock Arms To Torso toggle (default is L Shift). That just reinforces the instant convergence because the arms no longer move independently of the torso. If you want to get away from the high alpha and the lameness of jump sniping, removing that would go a long way to getting the ball rolling.

Didn't see the comment about the build being in the YouTube link. Went to Smurfy's to play around...gratified to see my guess was 100% accurate :D

All I see is someone alpha striking with gauss and a pair of ppcs and that will kill almost anything in a single shot. I see no need for discussion here.

Villz needs validation from the forums, just say "good job" or get mad about it and move on. Allowing it to start an argument only feeds it.

Ok how about a 40 lbs slug going 5,600 MpH? That is 2,500 MpS. That would give us 50 slugs per ton! :D

... I dont get these people ... Some weapons are better just because of what they are YOU CANT CHANGE THAT. Unless you nerf the hell out of it to where it is useless. The cost and requirements of the Gauss warrant it having an edge over other weapons.

With the current weight/slot size the gauss rifle has, plus the ability to explode as if it were ammunition, the amount of ammo per tonnage it has, and the fact that you have to deal with a charge-up means it's very much nerfed enough.

If your video showed anything, it's that they should consider changing it so that firing while using jumpjets should rattle your ammunition, thus causing a mis-fire and blowing your Highlander's arms off. :D Or you know, just leave it alone since it's not OP, just a role-specific weapon.

Wouldn't it be 55? I thought Mechwarrior (and Battletech) was all Metric and there is just over 2200lbs in a metric ton.
