HI all, I had a thought and would like to see it realised.

The thought was this: now that we have a good idea of what works and how in a real time shooter like mech game I challange ( pretty please ) the mech artist to create or modify existing mechs to best fit the overall meta game MWO has set.

To elaborate on this thought think about why the stalker is a good mech , well high mounted hardpoint seem to be an all around good thing + having a slik mech that has little width and a small pelvis are seem to help, while having a protruded central torso leads to the CT being blown off first, if the CT area is small and the side torso are is elongated than it's easy to protect the central torso and the mech becomes a "zombie" more often.

So what should be shown here is a variety of mechs all maximaly streamlined to a specific role , so something like a harraser, a brawler , a jump sniper, an LRM boat, a striker and any other role fit in any weight class you see fit.

Some guidelines that would be nice to fallow is that size should be relative to the existing mechs and it would be nice if you could do a quick build of what that mech would have equiped and if should be doable under the current mech building rules.

Upon reading this I really do expect that many of the builds will include or build upon mechs with high mounted balistic and energy hardpoints having AC20 and AC10 + 1~2 PPCs maybe some CT mounted lasers , having a low end height and width. I'm really interested in how will the choice be made wich part would be sacrificial , if you would go for lower arm actuators or not, if you would try to hide the pelvis from the front by having a crab like extended torso, if you would put the AC20 in the arm or the torso and so on!

P.S. : if you choose to , consider SRM as if they work as intended and not right now if you like splat builds ;) .

Hmmm...thinking about how to keep the battletech main components and game the system as much as possible - imagine a short, squat mech, with a top munted cockpit..that faces directly over the right torso. The right arm would have no lower or hand actuators and act as a shield, the right torso would have no components, the left torso would have vertical facing LRM tubes and the left arm would have a large AC or PPC mounts with an elbow actuator. The mech would be for frontal assaults, and spent all time torso twisted to the left. Any frontal attack would have to blow through the sheild arm and RT before the engine could be damaged, while the left arm would be able to shoot across the body completely protected (with a lower arm actuator, and the vertical LRMS would be abble to arc over cover. Even a flank attack would at best be able to attack front or rear CT, which would have armor split 50/50. I would call it "The Iron Dozer"!
