It's because we don't have a Champion.

Mastery Bundle is Hero, Champion, Variant.

I would like to see a Locust Mastery Bundle with the Pirate's Bane, Locust 1V(C) and probably a 1M.
This'd be along the lines of:
3 Mech Bay 900MC
PB - 1,500MC
LCT1V(C) - 728MC
LCT-1M - 595MC
30 Days Premium Time - 2,500MC
Total - 6,223
Price - 3,112

Then a Locust Mega Bundle of:
6 Mech Bay 1,800MC
PB - 1,500MC
LCT1V(C) - 728MC
LCT-1E - 600MC
LCT-1M - 595MC
LCT-3M - 715MC
LCT-3S - 640MC
30 Days Premium Time - 2,500MC
Total - 6,223
Price - 4,539

The Spider Mastery Bundle is 4,325MC.

+1

Though for the Champ, i would say either the 3M or E(i cant even srm in locust)

Locust 'super pack' should be called the 'Swarm Pack'. Black paint should be unlocked for these mechs.

The champion locust should be the 3m - xl190, 5spl, BAP, & dhs.

Imagine when THAT beast hits the trial rotation.

People will be like "y u play that?" and then we'll be like "drive it" and they'll be like "OH."

I just went 1V because it's generally the 'prime' that's champed.
I'd prefer a 1M meself.

Happy to communicate in this thread (some kind of brotherhood in here), that I've just mastered my first Locust.

I don't know if I'm getting use to light mech, but in these last matches, I'm piloting them not only for fun.... but they are really damn effective for team work, and dmg too.

Last 2 matches, 670 dmg and 672 dmg.

Sadly bad matches still happen, with 10 or 15 dmg.... or zero if I'm "sleeping" and not seeing an enemy mech!
You can always die in 1 shot :D

It's part of the deal, the thrill is like a drug

Yeah I would totally expect the champion to be the 1v w/ erllas & 2 mg. But if I were making the call it would be the 3m :)

Yes, locust pilots are like locusts: we swarm. Congrats on the master. Which variant?

This:

completed with uav/mpl-range/arty/seismic.

Ecm helps a lot, but now I want to master the other ones too!

I am currently running 2mpl 2 sl on my PB. It is my favorite loadout so far. I am not great with mg's though so I avoid them when possible. How is the heat with 3 mpl? I might try it although I like having armor on the arms cuz I twist a lot and those arms make great shields.

You don't need that ML, just stick a TAG in there ;)

or make it an SL and toss an extra half ton of ammo in, then you'll have a MIGHTY backup weapon when you run out of ammo or some light gets too close.

I find useless those 2 mg, because locusts cannot really deliver dmg over the time, but bite and run.
The heat of 3mpl is good, and easy atfer the x2 multiplier. The advantage of having speed is awesome, because it's easy to disengage when Betty is warning you. It's a good alpha too.

I tried 4ml, but, again it seems to me that 3 mpl are easier, because of short duration, but yes, depending on style, those arm shields are usefull.
I ended with an "all or nothing" config, because, thanks to ECM, ppl doesn't look too much a tiny mech that doesn't have dorito.... :)

Hey fellow Locust Warriors. Have you made the same experience with your Locusts like I did when unlocking the master skill, getting the x2 modifier for the basics?

Before the multiplier and speed tweak the Locusts are really a pain to ride. Dying a lot and moderate runs in general. But once the tweak and x2 modifiers kick in it's a total different game and the mech turns into pure awesomness. Regularly doing 300 dmg in my energy Locusts + the one awesome run in my 3M (5 SPL) getting 6 kills, 5 assists and doing >1200 dmg.

For me the biggest difference I noticed was switching from standard lasers to pulse lasers. The shorter beam duration is crucial, because it allows you to be a lot more mobile while shooting. Longer beam durations mean less turning and twisting, which makes you more vulnerable.

Locust is a death trap. Thank you for playing it, I appreciate your help stat padding my 5D which has a K/D over 3 and was close to 5 before the stat reset. I always kill every one I go after in my 5D unless he runs into several teammates for help. Only time one killed me IIRC was when my CT was dark red and he came in and kill stole. As a result, I killed that guy 3 of 4 times in a CW match and almost got him the 4th time. I will never buy a 20 ton mech for any reason.

Only reasons you guys do any damage at all are for ones such as so many people still using joysticks from the older MechWarrior title days thinking that is still the thing to do. It is challenging hitting an atlas with a joystick, hitting a locust is completely beyond most joystick users. Or people having plain bad aim with K+M. My aim is good and any locust that gets near me is a free kill. With F2P, you get a lot of people with close to 0 skill level just seeing what the game is. They are fodder for any mech, not just locusts.

Locusts can be truly painful to level, and using them pre elited is a challenge.

But after speed tweak especially, and then once elited...
You can fly without wings.
You can dodge AC20 fire at range dammit.

That said, my first exposure to speed tweak with my Locusts, when I finally got it, I finally forked out for an XL 190.
I was also quite ill, on rather strong painkillers, occasionally hallucinating and suffering from labyrinthitis (constant vertigo)

First match I took it out, almost threw up and crawled to the safety of a Jager mech or something else that's moving under 100, and I didn't come out for a while.

But when I did~
Never looked back.

- This sort of sums up Locusts a lot :)

You want the point? Best locust build/s is/are the one/s you sell and put towards a mech that isn't instakilled by skilled players.

/thread

When/if they release Arctic Cheetah, I advise buying that, along with everyone else, for your light mech needs.
