First forum post.

I'm loving my PB. Nicknamed her Peanut-butter cause she's a smooth operator.

Probably not the best build but mine sports 4 SPLs, a Machine-gun, and that wicked ECM.

Had a match today where it came down to my PB versus three mechs. I'd made two kills prior to this point and she was showing some wear mind you. But I got in there and got number three with a lucky shot, was down to a medium weight, a light, and myself. Much circle and 8 strafing and the medium was almost gone. Got legged and just made it behind a hill for a chance to catch my breath.
At this point I know I'm going down, PB's all red and I know they are just waiting for me, so I muster up the courage for one final charge. We limp over the hill guns blazing as I make a straight line for the medium. Warnings and sirens are going off all over as PB is being torn apart. I take out the medium and then get dropped from behind by the light. Teammates are cheering me and my little Locust throughout the battle.

I've played a lot of games with mecha but I don't think anything has left my chest pounding like running a Locust.

So far I've played a Raven, an Awesome, and all the Locusts... I might have to join the Cult. >.>

I'd say ditch the MG and throw in another DHS. The damage of that MG is almost nothing compared to the blinding muzzle flash you get from it >.>

Depending on your settings and such, it's pretty worth it with 2MG.

That's +0.6 burst, +1.6 dps damage.
1 may not be entirely worth it, but this: PIRATES' BANE
Is more worth doing.

With small lasers it's hard to overheat anyways (not speaking about pulse lasers) and a ton of MG Ammo is worth 160 DMG/game so I like to keep my PB equipped with them. The blinding effect has been greatly reduced by the way.

1/2 ton is enough for the two MG's as they'll be a shorter half to one second burst weapon while passing rather than a sustained weapon.

This is an excerpt from the BattleTech novel D.R.T. . Part of a story about The Black Thorns mercenary company. Just a little something to show some of the mentality of light, and especially Locust pilots Posted Image

“Were you really a Locust pilot Yuri?” He smiled for the first time, and Ria saw a sudden spark in his eyes she wouldn’t have guessed was there.
“Yes ma’am, I was. I still am. I just don’t have a ‘Mech right now.”
“Would you ever consider piloting something else?” she asked. Yuri rolled his head back and looked at the ceiling for a moment before answering.
“Yes, I guess I would consider it, but I’d have to call it the greatest waste of my life not to pilot a fast ‘Mech. You know what I mean?” Yuri looked back down at Ria, holding her gaze with his eyes. “Something with more speed than armor. That’s the ‘Mech for me. I’d take an UrbanMech if I thought that’s what it would take to get back into the hot seat, but I’d trade you a Marauder for a Locust any day.”

They're probably holdovers from the glory days of the LCT-1V. That -50% beam duration and +50% laser range was god tier.

It's only a free kill if the pilot can't do it right. Also, the 1V had quirks on it that made the ERLL faster, and packing more dps than even an MPL.

I would like to admit that back in the day that was one of the reasons why I started seeing the beauty of a Locust. I got killed by so many in my Trebuchet.

This is how Locusts reproduce, they kill other mechs, and their pilots switch to being locust pilots. XD

I know, right?

Also, from a biological point of view, this has been in my brain pan for a while. Did any of you know that in the animal kingdom locusts are just grasshoppers that have gone cannibalistic and run away from other locusts?

Acccording to Wikipedia they're a species of short-horned grasshoppers.

I'd be curious to see the cannibalistic one, as that sounds kind of fun.
