You could always run an AC2 or AC5 Locust. :(

Yes but the ammo is pitiful.

I somewhat dislike my 1v locust too, only reason I didn't sell it long ago is because it's a phoenix locust that I paid for.

i tried the AC2 the other day with 1-1/2 tons ammo and a SL..

silly at best. maybe if the AC still had that 1000m standard range

I've had matches with the 1V where I tore people up, and I've had matches where I couldn't find someone with a weak armor point and did next to nothing. My own 1V has a MPL, 4 MGs, and 2 tons of ammo, which is generally quite sufficient to last me until either I or all the enemies are dead. I tend to eschew the AMS for this build, as I do for most lights, since if I'm getting hit with missiles, it's probably my own fault. I do look forward to radar deprivation though. Played it a little bit in the one public test, and it seemed to make missile dodging even more sham.

The trick to it seems to be to poke a hole in someone's back with the laser, and see if they turn around. If they don't, I've gotten away with just lasering them to death; it's like they don't care that you're tearing into their CT with a laser as long as you don't hit them with MGs. For some reason though, the instant people hear that *pingpingping* of MG fire bouncing off them, you become target numero uno. On the other hand, if they're fighting your buddy in an atlas or something, go ahead and ping them so they turn around and get their back shot off.

Man, I've gotten away with facehugging all kinds of things with this mech and as long as they have an exposed side torso, I usually win. I still like the 3M with 5 SPLs better though.

Sure, LCT are easy kills for all mechs in the game - if they are able to hit them. But you can use that if you bait the team with yourself and split them. You just need to be a good runner and make a few enemies hunt you. Hunting squirrels at the beginning of a match is one of the major mistakes that often lead to losing a few good mechs.

discovered that Locusts and 4 streak 6s from a clan mech don;t mix together very well. sure i could have run but it was the last enemy and no one else was anywhere close except for one lrm boat so had to stall til someone else got there so they didn;t do the skirmish therma shutdown hide trick for the last seven minutes. fortunately i lasted long enough for the raven to get there...and it lasted long enough for the rest of the team to get there and finally kill it.

the new fall damage is just deadly....to yourself....

i'm losing legs now left and right from just tiny falls that used to not be such a problem. been doubled legged with multi laser sweeps at the same time 3 times now. Never had that before. some maps are just unplayable unless you stick to very specific trails and even then you'll launch and hurt yourself anyway.

dark times for the locust right now.

Damage absorption module is your best friend right now.

except i don't have the GXP and won't for an extremely long time..takes forever for me to get that much.

mad I just used a ton of it on the seismic module...wish I had waited like the 3 days to know this was going to be an issue.

My Locust is even nicknamed "SQUIRREL!"
If I wasn't good at it before, I have been getting plenty of practice.

I feel you with that one, I haven't picked up seismic yet, in part because I didn't have the GXP when it was the must have, and by the time I did, I kept expecting the next best thing to come out. :)

If by stupid you mean letting yourself think the mech might have some use.
Quite possibly

If by stupid you mean exploring every aspect of the game
Quite possibly

If by stupid you mean being unable or unwilling to think
I rather doubt it.

Welcome to the club, we have jackets.

Also, there are plenty of builds in here to help you master the art of the fragile squirrel. Ask if you need any help.

Also, which one did you buy?

Phhht, haven't seen another Flamer Locust yet.
I do not own the 1E yet either. :)

Have run 4 Flamers on my 3M though, and a single Flamer 4MG on my 1V.
Worked pretty well against the clan mechs.

Actually haven't even seen another Locust at all since the Clans hit.

I still drive around in them, but I'm probably nowhere near your skill bracket.
