The Underrated Locust

Runs really well, may even be my favourite variant now (edging out ahead of my 1V)
I keep wanting to up it to a full Ton of ammo, but there's nothing I want to trim to make that happen.
Maybe drop to a 180 down the line, but it's a lot of C-Bills and I have a LOT of mechs crying out for upgrades.

That would take some insane quirking - since the only real thing against them is their lack of armor.

I agree, (with Tim too) i am kind of expecting armor buffs to be the main quirks for locusts. But can you imagine a 1e with boosted energy cool down, reduced heat generation, and 6splas

I imagine that the 1V gets an MG range boost (possibly a cooldown bonus?
Dunno overall... we'll have to wait and see, but here's hoping it'll be something impressive.

Trust me.
Your call though - but having other teammates who did well does not exclude you from it.

Like, I'm not gonna take a chance of even being seen by a Jager or K2 unless I've scanned it or had a visual telling me what it was packing. (I would say Dire Whales too but if I think that applies to everyone and everything lol)

Hell, Locusts would probably be among the lowest of the Tier 5s if we're honest, so just general boosts wouldn't go amiss.
Each getting a straight set of general Energy Weapon boosts with specific 'primary' weapon boosts?
Iunno, either way, it'll be a case of
A: Helping what we do anyway.
B: Slightly changing loadouts to gain boosts.
C: Something nonsensical that doesn't match up to our preferred builds and ultimately doesn't do a whole heap.
Which is basically how it is for every mech being Quirked.

is there really a need to differentiate any of the locust chassis between tiers ? the different weapon loadouts will never make up for the innate weakness of the actual chassis
i wish pgi would make an exception for the locust and give them all the full amount of quirks, the 1e 3m 3s still need them just as much
(unless it was updated and they are all tier 5 ? then nvm

Both 3m and 1e variants are tier4 - and i think thats fair, much more effective damage-wise they are.
And whole affair makes almost all IS mechs better, so meta is changing and there may be even less place for locusts in new meta. But its a matter of pessimism or optimism at this point imo - since no final list of changes and no idea how they would affect the game.

the LRMCust is a great laugh every now and then. you should really just leave all the armor on the arms. every bit of armor is really needed. What is the point of using the 1M if you don't put SRMs (or SSRMs) on it? might as well just using 1E or 3M
I also believe AMS is wasted tonnage on these
It's more because I can just load all the armour on the legs and torsos without any weaponry or meaningful things in the arms. Makes the shooty and runny bit of the thing slightly less paper.

Endo, Ferro, 5 in the head, max everywhere else.
I normally run this distribution on all my Locusts (as modeled by my 1M):

This gives me 6.5T of space for weapons to play with after the XL190 and Heatsinks.
