TBH, as long as you KNOW you are completely responsible for non-standard (or just bad) designs (like XL on an Atlas), it should not shock you if people chuckle at your misfortune.

If you can get away with it on the battlefield, congrats. If you can't, "we told you so".

If I died in my franken, I'll just sit back crossed my arm and wait to try again in next match.
Will tinker with it only after a long streak of dying to same cause.
However, if I manage to score higher than average damage in that match, plus a few kills, I called it a good game.

I don't see a lot of XL engines on a Hunchback (at my ELO level), and when I do, I chuckle.

The STD engine on a BJ on the other hand doesn't seem crazy... as long as it's on the BJ-1X IMO (losing half your firepower doesn't mean you have to go kaput if you are side cored).

I stick them in my non-brawler HBK, the 4J and GI.
So far, the extra speed and weight saved gave them good survivability and fire power.

As for the STD BJ, I have it on a BJ3 energy sniper.
Give 6 more slot for more DHS to keep the ERLLs firing.
Loosing a side torso will still leave it fighting.
