As for putting mech types in the same lance it is not a bad idea if they are random puggers just protect the grouops that have been formed with a particular strategy in mind!

Showing premades indicators prior to the match have been requested before... but you know.. that has gone unanswered as usual.
So... let me know when PGI will take these things seriously.

You aren't their leader, and you really don't have any idea what you're doing.

I did have a match today where the commander was spot on. I had played with him several times and know he is good so i encouraged it. We did win but that's a super rare occurrence. It seems like the wrong people take command most often. Lack of skill, lack of tactical knowledge or situational awareness.
I think they should drop command from pug matches.
Given that most people ignore the commands that are issued, what does it matter whether some takes control or not?
Seems to me that you are just using someone taking command to justify why you lost yet another game, especially if there is no evil tryhard premade around to blame.
Try not running out in to the open by yourself and see if you live longer and thus win a few more matches.

Maybe, but having mechs of a similar speed and type in the same lance might make it easier for them to group togetehr since the lance members are shown so clearly.
The problem is that the location where they drop remains the same so its not as effective.
It gives some visual cues and on the off chance they do communicate they may be able to work as a team more effectivley ... except that you cannot see friendly loadouts which is very frustrating

I understand where you are coming from, but the majority of my matches where I take control most pugs follow the commands in general. I have often received thanks for commanding a good battle. Which really just meant everyone clumped up in the right spot on the map more so than the enemy team. I take command in over half the matches that I play.

As far as pugs listening, that'***** and miss. Sometimes I will simply call out a rally point so at least all start off on the right track. But once people (primarily newer players) start taking fire it all goes to hell and yeah, good luck at that point.
Minimap scaling should allow us to toggle from 400/800/1000 meters as it did in the old mpbt solaris.

LOL! Showing pre-mades pre-launch eh?
PGI might take these types of things seriously when the Community show PGI it has the Balles to not Disconnect due to the selected Map.
Then perhaps something mature, like showing the make up of the other Teams Lances, might get more consideration.

Funny thing about that is, while you think you're preventing some Troll from getting it, from the other side of the ledger, your doing so makes you that Troll and you become that D0uche' you fear so much.
Unless you intend to Lead, just don't don't bother.

Hit T, then /Y(team) then /A(attack) /G(grid)(space) H7
This places an Attack marker for the Team on H7
Hit T, then /U /A(lance) then /D(defend) /G(grid)(space) G6
This places a Defend marker on G6 for Alpha Lance.
Macros could ensue with vigor.

More often then not some wanna be Erwin Rommel that took command and without asking, moved people from groups ended up minus a leg or arm or worse.. I don't see anything wrong with that, if you ignore the wishes of a 2 or 3 man team that drops together, that work together regardless of their Mechs (Assault, Heavy, light, etc, etc, etc,), then expect repercussions.
Some friendly advice... Take the 4 seconds to ask if your teammates mind if you move them into what "YOU" think is a good idea, otherwise don't bother. Just sitting back and watching General Patton get curbstomped by his team may be funny, but it does your team no good...
On a side note, I have caught a ton of team fire from those that incorrectly assumed that "I" had lead the charge on a successful revolt against the two bit caricature of Hans Guderian, only to be told by the entire team that I had not participated.
Oh, I would have, but it's not worth my time.
After first contact ALL plans can collapse... It's not the guy with the best plan, it's the team that can adapt to changes on the battlefield. Even without COMs you still have eyes, use them.

We all know your a wannabe enforcer with dreams of command but you fail. Stop trying to justify it. I will put my scores up against your pug scores any day. I'm near blind and I bet I do better than you. Having been a command NCO I understand command comes with responsibility in this case there is none required. Its just fantasy island for wannabe tyrants..

Sure, just automatically detonate the mech core of any player who assumes team command without being in a preset.
Now that lances are spread across the map on many maps/modes there is even less reason than ever to shuffle people around.

Then you know there is a big difference between having a group of men & women who are trained to follow the chain of command and a bunch of yahoos who wanna pretend they are Rambo/the Eternal Warrior in front of a monitor.

You betcha, Why in pug matches its pretty pointless. It does work rarely as I pointed out earlier but it has to be a known player who has people on his team who respect him. Most often its yahoos who take command. There should be some measure of skill before you can take command.
