Okay... I'll admit I'm not necessarily all hip and trendy with the Clan mechs.

That said, Looking at the Summoner, those nift hip missiles seem awfully useless... considering it's would require the pilot to face the intended target with the mechs hips in order to aim the flipping things...

I guess if they are streaks, it's irrelevant but... yeah, SRMs and aiming with your hips. ;)

I don't think those are actually weapons, though they do look like missile pods. The Summoner(Prime) only has 3 weapons, and none of them are small missile racks.

I actually remeber a scene in the first or second ep of Battletech the animated series, where Malthus uses them to kill a bunch of centurions, except they are er smalls.

The Loki/Hellbringer has them too. Maybe they are the Anit-Personal pods?

They are actually anti infantry launchers, meant to deter infantry attacks. here is an actual name for them but I have since forgotten what it is. Although it is in Sarna.

Hi,

I’m 193% sure that those are not missile launchers, or anything that will serve a firepower purpose in MWO. It looks like just a flare thing – kinda like those AMS pods on the Highlander’s hips. Just for looks.

It is based on the original artwork:

My guess is they are just visualization of the jumpjets (which are mounted in the legs). No Summoner Variant has weapons in the legs.

The best version of the Catalyst art seemed to remove whatever those were supposed be:

Ooo, actually I might have blueprints of this at home.. I'll check and snap a picture if they give any info about what these are.

Edit: nvm found the Loki blueprint. They are missile launchers on there. So now I don't know what to think.

Maybe they'll be weapons on the Gold version. Or blinky lights of zero damages! Whatever works.

Great cartoon there ;) Bit hard to sit through now (hasn't aged terribly well), but I liked it as a kid. Darn them for not making a second season.

One of those original snafu's most likely. The Loki does have APODs on the legs (Prime Variant). The original Loki and Summoner artwork were very similar.

I really hope PPCs don't stick out that far. In lore the Maruader style arm pod was seen as big improvement over long barreled Warhammer mounts.
