[Feature Suggestion] Smoke Ac Weapon System

Just an idea I felt like sharing about a weapon system I thought up while playing some BF4.

What Smoke could do for you?
-Allows for concealed advances through open terrain.
-Can neutralize direct fire weaponry for a short period of time. No sight = poor accuracy.
-Escape mechanic for all weight classes of mechs.
-Also gives lights some other ballistic to slot other than mg's.

Does it exist already?

Ideas for Implementation


-Stand alone weapon system

Smoke Shell Auto-Cannon (Smoke SC or Smoke AC)

Tons: 3
Slots: 2
Max Range: 350m
Rounds per ton: 2-4

Smoke
Area of effect: 150m diameter circle
Duration: 15-25s
Height: 1.5 - 2 Atlas's

Just a rough draft I wouldn't know how to balance it correctly for in game but it just seems like such an elegant mechanic to have in game.

Other things which could be a part of the Smoke Cloud or random thoughts.

-IR smoke feature: Blinding to Thermal vision.
-Vision/lock-on reduction while inside of smoke cloud. Down to something like 100m or less.


Let me know what you think or if you have your own suggestion pertaining to smoke grenades, mortars or w/e let me know.

it's a strategic weapon. Didn't work in MW4 against AI so it was pointless; but against real people in MWO it would definitely hold a real place. Would be nice to try it a few times in testing to see how it affects gameplay.

By reading the titlte I was expecting a suggestion to add more smoke to the AC in general. Firing AC putting a lot of smoke into the air which limits the sight of the shooter.

I'd like to see smoke launcher/scrren as they were used by modern tanks.

It can be implemented via artillery strike if they really wanted it. Would be nice and handy as long as it doesn't kill fps. It certainly would make things more interesting tactically.

-I hope there would be a way to smooth out the smoke from d/c'ing people or laggin up graphics. I've seen a few threads about people wanting to turn off injured mech smoke due to dropped fps.

-Artillery Stike implementation would be really good idea too.

Also another idea for a dedicated weapon would be to have the smoke grenade projectile follow a curved path so it could be lobbed around or even have it bounce a bit after impact!
