Here's what gets me....
There is already a quantifiable statistic that could be used to make matches even, but for some reason, it doesn't even appear to be a factor of deciding which players should be placed in the same match.
We have ALL generated some level of XP on our mechs, which is shown by not only the total number of XP but also where you are in opening up the trees.
Someone with Mastery of a certain chassis shouldn't be placed into a match where everyone else is still trying to open up the Basic tree. Hell, just using the 'total GXP earned' would get more evenly balanced matches.

Could You Address The Matchmaking

You can pretty much tell, with about 90% accuracy, your W/L outcome in a match just from looking at your friendly drop deck at the start of the round.
Last match being an example, my team starts 1 down (slot left empty by MM), 0 assaults, only 5 heavies (2 of which were noob-Dragons).
Surprise, I get a kill, the only kill, and we get rolled by a team that had 2 DDCs, 1 733C (non-noob verson), and a pair of Victors...

Yep.
Played a game recently where my KTO-18 was the 4th heaviest mech on our team.
The enemy had 6 DDCs, 3 Stalker LRM Boats, 2 ECM Ravens and an ECM Spider. We even had a discon on our team.
I killed the ravens and spider (they tried to cap) then ran out the match till the timer expired...which made me the "coward".
Right.
Lights are still broke. Especially Spiders. (hell, does anyone see Commandos anymore? Other than the ECM 2D and even then?)
ECM is still ridiculous.
HSR is hit or miss, no pun intended. Not sure if that has anything to do with the "magic deaths" or inability to tell you're being hit (no sound or delayed indicators).
SRMS are still broken.
ELO/MM is a joke. Not much fun when you're being stomped or doing the stomping. Lame.
Rare is the game with out ECM, but when it does happen, it is often glorious win or lose.

Matthew has generally been pretty forthcoming in terms of responding with information and the like. While these changes may not be completely desirable, it may also be beneficial in terms of getting matches found in a shorter time frame for more players. All of that data would be instrumental in the upcoming Matchmaker revamp, and I would wager that the answer coming would be one that will possibly incorporate some of these findings.
Apologies for not following up sooner, it was deemed better that Paul respond and he was away for a few days. He has since responded about the change in the Command Chair post.
