Recently picked up SSRMs as a counter to try and hunt lights or for self defense on heavier builds. However, I've been noticing something fishy (and I'm making this thread asking, anyone else seeing this? Is it already a known problem?) about them.
What I've been seeing is, I get a lock, I shoot my SSRMs, there is nothing in the way, they hit, the damage display of my target flickers, and then nothing. No damage appears to apply. I've had this happen on shots that, considering the SSRM mechanics, had to of hit as nothing was in the way but open air.
It appears that all SRMs are suffering from the same hit registration problems, and my suspicion is that LRMs are as well, but are already known for not doing much damage (which is why many people boat them) and the "swarm" hide the fact that some are not registering their damage. (This is theory talk here.)
Anyone else notice? Is it a known issue?

Ssrms Seem To Have Same Problem With Hit Reg As Srms

Somewhere between 20 and 30% of all my SRM hits disappear into the aether, I'm sure. I don't use Streaks so much myself, but I've not noticed a reduction in damage from them lately either.
As I understand it, the hit-reg issue with SRM's (and LB's) is the number of projectiles hitting in such a short space of time that the server basically goes '**** if I know' and ignores the hit. You can avoid that for SRM's by either chain-firing (still has issues, but far more reliable) or using smaller launchers - I don't believe I ever failed to register an SRM2 hit.
It strikes me as odd that SSRM's would suffer from that sort of hit-reg problem. So if they are, I'd be inclined to say it's something else. Ping, maybe? Funky HSR?

Ping is stable and low for me (around 30 normally), which shouldn't be throwing off HSR. However, my intended victims I can not say the same for.
But just a match ago, I shot several SSRM2s (My Dragon has 2 SSRM2s on it), at a Jenner. It almost looked like the Jenner was Laughing as they... seemed to do no damage... and I can say, we were fighting on level ground. So no "well, that Building/hill/friendly mech was standing in the way and got hit instead". They had no where to go.
I've been noticing it more and more as I play with the SSRMs, so I'm inclined to think I'm either going crazy, or something isn't right. I'm voting for the former, as then I can possibly get free food, medical, and TV/Internet!

Interesting. Sorry I can't be more help just yet, but I'll keep an eye out to see if I spot the same thing.

My SSRM hit ~70% of the time but do full damage then - 30% do not hit, get avoided, into obstacles.
Sometimes you meet an invincible opponent that take multiple times the damage you expect.
For example a Battlemaster that took 340 damage to the CT/LT and was still alive with orange armor (only as example for Mechs taking unexpected much damage and still live - my Mech had a AC10 - ERPPCsetup in this fight but its the only one i remember the damage).
PS: Oh, the 400+ damage Raven comes to my mind - it only lost a leg and then i was killed. (had put 3xSSRM, LBX10, 2xMG and ML damage into it).
PPS: The damage values i know from the Summary Screen and those where the only target Mechs i fought in that matches.

I've also noticed this as well. I've had some matches where I only fought a single target, died, and I did 300-400 damage. I don't really care what mech you are, unless I leave you either dead, or I leave you with nothing but a leg and a CT (and head). Not even an Atlas can survive that much singular damage placed on it...
Maybe there is something to this? Or we did damage to someone else and not realize it?
Maybe this is also the problem I'm noticing with my SSRMs?

Just played a match. Fought a Spider, a Spider, and a Raven, in that order. I continually launched chain fired SSRMs into them, and caused 0 damage with my SSRMs that I could see. Their paper doll didn't even flash. I ended up (thankfully) killing them with my Large laser and my UAC5.
Something is really fishy with SSRMs. I'm thinking about trying to record my matches so I can submit more data to PGI.
