Hy,

Im a new player here , and i had no ideea lazers are such a drag and the total uslessness of the jester..so my question is can i get it replaced with a firebrand or even a golden boy i dont even care its cheaper ..anithing is better then this trash.

Thanks.

You are doing the right thing. Email support and return that lemon. Don't listen to the people telling you it's OK, it's not, it's really just one step above dreck like the Golden Boy.

If you want a good Hero (The Firebrand isn't bad at all), check out the Ilya Muromets, Dragon Slayer or Heavy Metal. All of them are very awesome and you won't regret them.

Avoid the Pretty Baby and again, Golden Boy, at ALL costs.

I turned my K2 into a mini Misery. 2 large lasers and an a/c-20. Can't remember the exact layout but there is 7 tons of ammo, bigger standard engine, and plenty of double heat sinks. Efficient, reasonably quick, and can hit and run. The thing with any pult is you have a big cockpit and ct. Maybe it's your playing style or skill? As long as you use cover and play competently you have a distinct advantage. Those high mounted arms should be ******* your enemies off and an a/c-20 hit really surprises people I find. It is not a front line hit for hit mech. Be sneaky. Shoot the enemy when they are focused on a team mate. Don't keep popping out from the same spot every 5 seconds. And if you do keep popping out from the same spot then be random when you do pop out. Count to 5 one time, 12 the next, 9 the next, then 14, etc. Let the enemy get bored with waiting for you so they aren't aiming where you will be. Patience. You want to weaken the team for the first several minutes. Don't rush in for quick kills unless you will be shot very little in return.

Srsly OP L2P.

10 days on the game is nothing to be critiquing mech's as trash.

Should be close to what I run. Usually get a few kills and assists + 400-800 damage typical. Depends on how drunk I am, skill of my team, and the enemy teams skill.

@Thors: no XL? with these small side torsi it was never a prob for me by now...

@OP: Good advice: support is very helpful from my experience. Writing to them first is an alternative to a complain here. Especially if you state your probs with the Jester (Im totally in  with my Cheshire Cat, btw, so dont take it personally) in a not-very-precise way...errr,okay,sounded like you bought the wrong Sort of Bubblegum cause you didnt looked at the package  and complaining about that.

I am running mine with an XL350, 2xERLL, 4xML, 2AMS (yup, I plainly refuse to poptart. plus I dont like "Hadouken"PPCs) and the little Terror Cat never lets me down, if played correctly (that means: U dont brawl. U flank and harass and dissapear, causing the enemy lines to break up, then reappear on their other flank and help your team cleaning up).
Plus If you dont run in a straight line with the same speed all the time, its a pleasure to see all these "Hadouken"PPCs causing nice explosions around you, especially on Terra Therma (especially if you have steady enough aim to turn and burn out the Cockpit of that last guy missing with 3 PPCs in a row :D)

Anyways, good luck with changing that mech

gimme the jester.

seriously, lasers are not a "drag" they are some of the most powerful weapons in the game.

while i've never used a jester myself, i do have my Founders Cat outfitted with 4 medium lasers (and some missiles) and in all honesty, i've gotten more kills and more damage with the lasers than with the missiles.

Lasers do damage over time (DoT) so even though you may "hit" the enemy with part of the beam, you only do damage for the time you hold it down on target.

once you learn to aim correctly with lasers then you may change your mind.

but if you're still convinced, then go ahead and e-mail support, they'll be too happy to help (once)

z00med- I made standard engine builds because he is new. No $ earned to buy expensive XL engines. In my mini misery K2 I use the left side to take all incoming fire to protect that a/c 20 so a standard is a must for how I play it. Many times I have lost the left side and continued to dish out a lot of damage with my remaining large laser and a/c 20. Have plenty of ammo to go the distance too.

This might be fun too. Dual AMS with 3 tons of ammo to protect anyone near by from missiles. Jump jets, 6 medium lasers, and fast. Pop in and out as you fire medium lasers non stop.

You should really do better research first, and if you're new then don't spend any real money on this game until you understand it. NO HERO mech is that good in this game and they are a waste of money for what you pay.

Every chasis has its quirks and strengths. Rather than poop on the Jester, learn to play to its strengths.

I would run something like this, It basically turns the Jester into an energy based K2. 340 engines can be shared with a couple of chasis. Poptart with the PPCs early game, finish off enemies with the 4 MLs.

The speed lets you reposition fast. Poptarting allows you to jump up from behind friendlies and terrain to land PPC shots.

How boring... The Jester is a fine mech, you just have to play it right.
