I haven't been playing for quite a while now, so interested in knowing about the following things:
- is there an ability to select maps that you want to play on, to avoid the ones that you hate?
- is it possible now to bind zoom to mousewheel without AHK?
- is there a separate player queue with 3rd-person view disabled, like it was promised some time ago but not done?
- are there any significant game changes aside from new map? I don't care about any of the new mechs.

choosing maps, not that i am aware, other than test maps.. which is a great way to learn them

3rd person, press F4, and you are back in cockpit.

read the patch notes, but spawn locations, new game mode (removed bases, just kill) Heat changes, many weapon changes, Chassis been updated..

Well I am aware about the new game mode, which is basically TDM, however most people aready played Assault like TDM, so its nothing new.

Looks like I'll have to wait another 6 months before checking again...

1. No, just in testing grounds.
2. Not that I am aware. Someone here has probably made a macro or something though.
3. 12-man groups have it disabled. Honestly, no one uses 3rd person and it's really not an issue.
4. Yes, spawn points have been moved around on almost all maps. It's actually a refreshing change. Arty and Airstrikes are more powerful and finally useful. There have been a couple weapon balancing things. Oh, and they are in the process of adjusting hitboxes so the pelvis area isn't all CT. Spider's hitboxes have also been adjusted so they are easier to hit.

If you are looking for CW, try again in 6 months.

-Not yet, drop ship mode (still under work) might change that.
-No, zoom is still not scroll-compliant
-Yes, if you drop as a 12 comp, 3rd person view is not functional there. (to be honest, 3rd person is pretty awful and offers no advantages. I'd say it offers a disadvantage in that people can see you easily because they can spot the drop flying above you, and you lose your radar map while in 3rd PV.)
-Yes,

there's a Tutorial,

You can select specific maps on Training grounds to practice for each one on it's own.

There's also ghost heat (weapon specific heat penalty when over-boating) For example, you can fire 6 MLs to generate the expected heat, but if you fire a 7th within 0.5 seconds you will accrue additional heat since your systems need to overcompinsate. If you fire 2PPCs you're fine, fire a third within 0.5 seconds and you will generate more heat.

When you use Jumpjets there is some Cockpit shake.

Artillery Strike and Airstrike deal more damage now (each shell/bomb is 40 damage instead of 10)

I wanna say those are the big ones, but I keep thinking I'm forgetting something else.

Oh yeah, if you use the code HAPPYHOLIDAYS (don't remember if there should be a space or not) you get 7 days of premium time. It was a Christmas gift, and it is still available.

So basically since the controls are EXACTLY the way you want them, newbies can screw themselves with 3rd person, and the maps rotate, you aren't playing?

Please explain how any of that would make the game better? I get some maps suck, but its 10 minutes at the most, and it can make you a better player if you have the desire to grow as a gamer.

Suckage is also relative: one mans suck is another man's awesome.
An example:
I hear a lot of hate for TT, but I would rather have nothing but it rather than have RCNight.

They added the ability to sort lances in the screen before the match starts. Only you have no way of knowing who is a premade and they don't like being split up, so nobody uses it.

Nope

not that i know of, i dont use a 'mouse' when playing, but a trackball for better accuracy/aiming.

Nope. 3rd person view is seen as 'part of the game' by PGI.. their not going to limit it out of fear that the few people who like it wont be able to find any matches. Just like how the WoT dev's wont make game modes were Artillary isnt allowed.

Nope.. just the new map. And one new game mode that is basically nothing more than the assault mode with the base-cap removed.

Other than that.. nothing has changed. Its still the Arcade-game with 10 hit-boxes per mech, were only 2 are ever shot at (front and rear CT), with the other 8 being there solely to let you earn extra credits for taking the time to shoot at them while the other guy focuses only on your CT and kills you. Its still a game where the only "Setup/loadout" is 'put as much firepower as you can onto your mech so you can chew threw the other guys CT first' setups.

oh! but we get clan mech's in 5 months.... yet it'll still likely be the same gameplay, just with new toys.
