This one is kind of intentionally ugly and ungainly. I just finally put to paper a sketch, after having run it in campaigns for about 20 years. It started life as a late 3040's proof of concept attempt to supplement and replace the Ostscouts in service. While not quite as fast, and not able to jump as far, the superior Star League era sensor package, and armament gave it considerable survivability in trials. A late addition of MASC actually allow it to move FASTER than an Ostscout, at least in short bursts, and the ability to leap 90 meters was deemed sufficient for terrain maneuvering.

compared to other Inner Sphere Mechs of it's era, it performed well, and it totally outclassed the mechs of just a decade before. But then the Clans came, and like most IS designs, it was woefully outmatched.....until tactics were reconsidered. While not a threat to Clan Mechs overall in direct combat, it's stealth package, TAG and BAP, combined with it's speed and ability to use all it's EWAR package from defilade, made it invaluable as a spotter, scout and harasser.

very true, but to me that fits in with so many mechs of the era where the tech was not understood well enough and oftentimes egregious oversights were made. All in all, in the modern battlefield, the poor little guy is toast.

Two AMS and lots of technology in there with BAP, ECM and Tag. A good raven substitute. Love this strange looking thing ^^

you should love even more that it is made in the Lyran Commonwealth, right on Port Moseby, by Maverick Industries.

What a sexy beast.

Is he somewhat related to your King Crab? A Grandchild maybe?

it visually was an attempt to make a "light mech" relative to the Crab, King Crab. But the stats and name were from a mech I designed 20 years ago. I am still tinkering with renaming and retasking it. Maybe call it the "Hermit Crab" due to its reclusive and secretive nature.

Very nice, it's nice to see a custom 'Mech with a purpose other than ******** Assaults.

Edit - 'beast' followed by 'ial' is censored? Why?

Because believe it or not - people have used that in several different ways with clear intent to insult and belittle and/or refer to subjects best left un-referred to in public enough that it got included into the filter.
IE: because of the Huge Manatee.

Nice. Wanna add some accent colors and a few unit insignias?

One issue discovered early was it's wide shoulders was an issue with navigating alleys and narrow city streets. But due to it's significant torso twist rate, most pilots have mastered piloting by instrument while running near full speed with their torso turned 90 degrees from front. An odd looking, but effective solution to the problem.

An idea to have a modified version would be move the arm housings under the ends of the side torsos. like right under the LL.
