I have a joystick and mechwarrior (the game) automatically picked it up and it auto set the joystick keys is there a way to unbind the keys or stop if from being picked up by the game. i would appreciate if someone could help me

You could try unplugging the joystick... Or rebind the keys using the in-game Options menu?
You can "blank" the keybind setting by binding a different action to the same key. It will notify you that it's already being used, you just say yes you want to bind it, and the previous action will become Un-bound. For instance I cleared my joystick settings by binding each action one by one to my Joy4 button, and then at the end I could leave my joystick plugged in and not worry about accidentally having it interfere (Joy4 was not a button I'd ever accidentally push).
