So I havn't used MGs in a while and tried out a (terrible) build on my Shadowhawk to discover I couldn't even see! It would be nice not to be blinded by my own weaponry.

Looking at the other weapons they do it to an extent as well, the only difference being that the MG fires constantly, whereas the other weapons only do it for a fraction of a second with each shot.

Shawks already have peripheral sight blinders horses wear as it is. That would make it tough for sure. I don't think I have that problem. Turn down you Graphics settings I guess.

I run an AC2 on the shoulder of my 2H(P), and it doesn't bother me, despite the fact that in heated combat I rarely let go of the trigger.

I thought this was gonna be terriblely annoying and the screenshots definitely make it look pretty bad but surprisingly during combat its really not that bad. I've been using a 2MG + LB10 combo on my 2H and in heated firefights I just hold the trigger but I rarely feel blinded.

Yep all good here and loving the immersion factor it gives the Shawk.

There is no known way to fix that (that I know)...

But if you want to reduce Sun Glare.... put your POST PROCESSING to LOW..

Go to Options.. and in Advanced Video Settings... slide the POST PROCESSING to LOW

Here are some quick screen caps I took of the difference..

I think of the visibility as a trade off of sorts when compared to the Hunchback (similar Medium using similar ballistic loadout).

Shadow Hawk:
+ Has JJs
+ 5 extra avail tons
+ Relatively small RH Torso
+ Durability

- Less torso twist range
- Less energy harpoints as backup
- Limited peripheral visibility
- Partially blinding when using auto cannons with higher DPS

Hunchback

+ Good torso twist range
+ Better balanced harpoints
+ Descent visibility despite "Hump"
+ Auto cannons contained for limited flash

- No JJs
- 5 less tons
- Very large RH torso
- Lacking durability due to "Hump" (although good torso twist helps to combat)

To be better at some things, you have to sacrifice others. I'd say the visibility is a worthwhile compromise for its durability and JJs with extra tonnage.

Besides, they could always add a new module "Muzzle Suppressor". Suppresses balistic muzzle flash

I'd never bothered to look at the Advanced settings before... thanks for this tip!

How is smoke implemented in MWO? Would lowering Particles reduce that?
